Sir,
This is the problem with OS. You must revert back to XP. I searched through internet says
"As of 27 May 2009, the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader still has no drivers for 64bit XP or Vista, even though the items that contain the fingerprint reader (Such as the IntelliMouse w/Fingerprint Reader) are listed as Vista x64 certified. Microsoft has no dates when drivers will be available. Ironically Linux is the only 64-bit system which supports the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader."
You must reformat it again and back to XP. Also check out the manufacturer's website for latest drivers.
Thanks
Good Luck

No, when I reformatted the OS it worked right away(I believe the OS and all this little add-on software is all on the factory-provided disc I used to reformat). I've used the fingerprint scanner for the last three months AFTER reformatting and haven't had any problems until very recently.
Actually, all I needed was to install the Service Pack.
Can you believe it? You're telling me to reformat my WHOLE computer back to an antiquated OS based on the assumption that I have a Microsoft Fingerprint Reader, when I never said that I had a Microsoft branded one, because I DON'T. You really should be more careful about the advice you offer sir. I'm very glad that I did not listen to your advice.
karenw959, thank you for trying to help, and not just assuming you had the answer without knowing all the details. Perhaps you could teach Rajak2009 a thing or two about discovery questions? ;)
