Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem. Doing so will only make things worse. The blog does however show you how to fix other common problems with these sets.
Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.
Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.
If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.
50 in projection TV has horizontal blurring lines at the bottom half of the screen, picture visible , but blurred. Can you identify the problem and the fix?
Yes on some models, have you tried the Magic focus after the set gets warmed up?

WE HAVE TRIED THE MAGIC FOCUS A FEW DIFFERENT TIMES WITH NO CHANGE TO THE SCREEN. I HAVE NOT LOCATED A CONVERGENCE FIX SPECIFICALLY FOR THE 53SDX89B MODEL. ANY DIRECTION WOULD BE APPRECIATED =)
We are having the same issue with the Hitachi 53SDX89B TV- red and green bowing from top of screen. The bowing spans about 6" in height, red on top of green to the middle of the TV; bottom half is shadowed red behind green.
After running the Magic Focus, a 3 flashes on the bottom right of the screen.
We'll need step-by-step instructions (in laymen terms please!) on how to find out the cause of the problem~ the least expensive way would be most appreciated!
Thank you in advance.
Mine is doing the same thing with the red and green it started after it was moved can i fix this problem? I also tried the magic focus with no change
