Question about Ulead Videostudio 8 for PC

Creating disk -error

Every time i click on creat disk, before the window is fully open, i get an error report. All it says is "ulead videostudio has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvinience." It offers me to send or don't send, and then closes down the entire program. What's the problem and what should I do.

I am afraid of losing my videos that I've edited, and some clips that I don't have on tape any more. Is it possible to uninstall and save all those?

  • nigelryan Dec 15, 2007

I don't want to do this by trial and error so excuse me. How exactly do i keep the videos? Do I need to save them to some external drive (most devices are too small)? Or will they be safe there in 'my documents'?
Thanks for all your help so far.

strangely enough there is no uninstall option in the problem files in the start menu. and what's even more strange, when i did a file and folder search (including hidden files) there were also no results for ulead uninstall. Any other suggestions? Thanks

Try uninstalling the software and then manually deleting any folders it created (if they still remain after the uninstallation). If it doesn;t promp to restart, then restart. Then reinstall the software again. Good luck!

You can leave the videos in my documents. In the start menu and program files under there a uninstall shortcut? If there isn't there do a manual search...u can manually go into the program files/ulead folder and look there or u can use windows search ulead uninstall.

That is indeed quite strange. Did you try reinstalling the program again on top of the current installation?

In Roxio Creator 10, I attempt to burn a disk of a slide show. I receive an error message 8004520C When I check production it reports no problem. This is repeatable.

Generally, defragmenting your hard disk will resolve this issue. To defragment your computer:

  1. Go to Start--> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Defragmenter.
  2. When the Disk Defragmenter window opens, choose Defragment.

If defragmentation doesn't resolve the issue, burn your project as a data file, and then burn your project as a data disc using Disc Copier or Creator Classic. To create a disc image/data file:

  1. After clicking the Burn button, the Burn Project window opens.
  2. You have two data burning options:
    • Image file - this option will save your project as an .ISO file. To burn this file you will need to use the Burn Image option in Creator's Copy section.
    • Folder Set - burning a folder set will create a Video_TS folder that you can burn using Creator Classic. Burning a folder set to DVD will create a fully functional DVD. Do NOT rename the Video_TS folder other wise it will not play! Simply place it in a folder that is the name of your project if you need to keep track.

The pic above shows videostudio version 8. That is a phased-out product and has no tech support. However, if you have a later version of VideoStudio, you can get a patch at the link below.

Good luck.

Send the report to M.S. then you will get a window asking if you wish to see more details, click yes and you will get an explanation of what has gone wrong.
Alternativly, if this problem has occured after a change in software, like installing a new program or a new piece of hardware then there may be some settings that need changing, as a last resort, go into a system retsore point, last known good configuration.

Not sure what it means, but I found a way around it.

I get the same error when I try to burn a WMV (Windows Media Video) file to a DVD.

As a work-around, I converted the file to a MPG (MPEG-2) file. That took the size from 41 Mb to 357 Mb.

I was then able to burn the MPG file to a DVD successfully.

If you still have trouble, I would suggest creating an ISO image of the MPG file. That takes the size from 357 Mb to 508 Mb. You should then be able to create a DVD directly from the image file.

Good luck!

Creating DVDs from VHS recordings.

While capturing VHS to PC firstly you have to have a hardware that captures the VHS to PC, I mean you need a MPEG 2 hardware of Pinacle {PCI card}, then you can solve your problem. OR if you have already captured (reccord) a video file it should be on MPG format.. if it is in MPG format then it will not flicker, OR you can try Intervideo WINDVD creator software to create a DVD format file...
