Poor washing quality and water left in the filters ets

my dishwasher get stuck on 1 minute at the end of the cycle, when I open it there is very hot water coming from the top arm. To solve this I have to put a quantity of water into the bottom of the dishwasher and run again before it will finish the wash correctly, Also the dishes are coming out really dirty sometimes and even though i clean the filters etc regularly there is always water left at the bottom of the dishwasher. I have tried everything bar dismantling the whole dishwasher so any solutions to try would be helpful thanks
