DCR-VX2000 Power Issues

My DCR-VX2000 is not powering on. I'm not certain if this is a contact problem, lithium battery issue, or mechanical.
Are there known power issues with th DCR-VX2000? Mine is 6 years old.

Hello I have the same problem as the post above. My Sony DCR-VX200 isn't powering up for some reason. I was watching a tape in it and shut it off to run an errand, came back and it wouldn't turn back on. I thought it might be the battery so I plugged it in but it still won't work on batt. or AC cord. I have tried leaving the batt. to charge over night and even hitting the reset button but nothing works and I REALLY can't afford the Sony flat rate repaor for this camcorder of $560. Can anyone help me with this, or at least give me and option on how to get the tape out with no power?

We just bought this camera from a pawn shop. Luckily we have a 7 day warranty and can still take it back. We have found this same issue with our camera. Our camera will work while plugged in but doesn't want to take a charge. When we unplug the AC adapter, the battery life meter will read up to 57 minutes on the LCD, but then turn off after a few seconds. Anyone have a solution?

POOR COLOR QUALITY, NO MATTER HOW BRIGHT THE ROOM. SOMETIMES CAMCORDER WILL CATCH THE COLOR, THEN FADE BACK TO DIM LIGHT

I'm sorry that the video quality of the camcorder is poor. Sony camcorders will automatically adjust the shutter speed based on the lighting conditions. When video is being shot in low light situations, the camera will slow the shutter speed. This is normal operation and is not a service issue. To prevent this issue, record video in locations where more light is present.

You may use the White balance feature and check the operation. Refer the page 71 for more information. Refer the URL to download the Operating Guide:

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRDVD105-205-305.pdf

You may also perform a power reset and check.

Performing a manual power reset
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Disconnect AC power adapter.
  3. Remove the battery pack.
  4. Remove the lithium button-cell battery.
  5. Move the POWER switch to the CAMERA position for 15 seconds.
  6. Move the POWER switch to the OFF position.
  7. Reinsert the lithium button-cell battery.
  8. Reconnect the AC power adapter or reinsert the battery pack.
  9. Turn on the camcorder.
