It could be just the error saying there is no old save file found, which is normal if you are just starting the game. Play the game and it should attempt to save automatically or ask you to save. Play it for a good 30 minutes, if it hasn't asked you to save it is probably auto-saving. Try turning the system off and trying the game again. If you get the same error about no memory then yes the hard drive is having an issue. Call Sony at:

When i try to download something it says connect storage media to save destination what does that mean and what can i do to download stuff without that coming up

File formats that the PS3 doesn't recognize as something that it can play, can only be saved to a USB storage device, or a memory card. You can't download anything to the PS3 hard drive via the browser that you couldn't copy to it from a USB storage device. That is what the error message means. You have to connect an external storage device, because the PS3 won't store this file format on the internal drive. This protects the integrity of the system. If you connect a USB drive or memory card (you will need a USB adapter for the memory card if you don't have a launch PS3), then you can download anything that you want using the PS3 web browser. Sometimes called a thumb drive, a USB drive costs about $20 and plugs into the USB slot and is removable.

I just brought my 80G playstation 3 and turned it on. i tried to play the game [prototype] but every time i put it in, it says that it needs 649MB of free space on the HDD. what do i need to do?

Here's the answer to your question from the Activision website.

http://activision.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/activision.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=23790

It has come to our attention that a small number of PS3 Prototype owners have been having issues with installing the game. This is a known issue and there is an update to the game that will resolve this.

You will need to be logged into the Playstation Network to get this update. You will be asked to download the update when you launch the game.

If you do not have Internet access for your PS3 then you will need to follow the instructions below to work around this issue.

If your PS3 tells you that you have insufficient hard drive space to install, even if you do, you are going to need to change the available space on your hard drive by 700 MB. This can be done in a number of ways including the following:

- Installing or uninstalling another PS3 game that allows hard drive installation.
- Downloading game demos.
- Removing downloadable content.
- Adding / removing MP3's or movies from the hard drive.
- Etc.

Once you have made the necessary change to your Hard Drive space insert the Prototype disc back into your PS3 and it should now install.

The goal of this is to change the available space on the hard drive. You may need to try a combination of any of the above suggestions.

It says there's not enough memory to run prototype for ps3

Did you try to reset you memory card that you are using? Sometimes even if we delete the other saved data in our memory and did not reset sometimes it didn't delete automatically that is why we need to reset it sometimes. Also try to see if your memory is enough to hadle the new game you bought.

PS3 does not have enough memory when it clearly does.

There are no PlayStation 3 with 200 GB hard drive disks. Are you sure there isn't only 200 MB left on the disk? It would make more sense.

Anyway, just delete some demos or videos on the hard drive, since they typically waste a huge amount of space.

Games won't load

the ps3 hard drive is very intuvative or to configure the probelm. The ps3 usally copys the game to the hard drive and save data continously with out any consent so your hard drive or memory bank maybe overloaded with info .
