Pioneer DVL-919 DVD door does not open

I have a Pioneer DVL-919 Laserdisc player and door does not open.

Is there a common fix for this?

Is it an easy and inexpensive fix?

You can also try flipping the player upside down and shaking it a little. I bought a DVL 909 and when it arrived the tray wouldn't open. The seller told me to try that, and it actually worked. I wouldn't recommend shaking it quite so much as this video shows... but it does show that it can work.

Re: Pioneer DVL-919 DVD door does not open

Well usually when these draws dont open can be one of 4 things. First is to check if there is anything jammed, place your ear near the dvd draw area and press eject and hear if there is a sound.. if it sounds like the motor is struggling it will buzz .. or if its a low humming sound this means the belt has snapped and the motor is working, if nothing is heard, a connection could have come loose from the motor or the Motor Control Chip on the circuit Board might be shorted or the motor itself could be dead.

All these problems are what can possibly fault the dvd/cd draw.
And Depending on the issue, its an easy fix if the belt or the motor have become faulty.
hope this helps

Hi, I need a pioneer dvl-909 service manual that tells how to replace the loading belt. Thanks, Bill

Try to see if the drawers are blocked by something either inside or outside of the case.

Pioneer DVL-700. Unit Plays LD Discs & CD's fine but will not play any DVD Videos.

The dvd's are not spinning up correctly. If the belt inside is worn this will cause cd's to play but dvd's fail. open up and replce belt (small black rubber running on motor)

Pioneer DVL v888 disk tray will not open. There is a disk in it.

There isn't a way to open it by hand without removing the cover.

As for fixing the tray, there might be a few reasons why its not working. When you press one of the eject buttons, do you hear the usual whirring of motors? If you do and the tray still does not open, then the problem may be a broken rubber belt near the front.

If you don't hear the whirring of motors, then try playing the disk. If the disk does not play either, then the disk loading mechanism is out of sync and may require manually resetting it. This is accomplished by carefully pulling the spring loaded carriage upwards or downwards until it responds to the play button. Be very careful not to touch any of the exposed electrical components and capacitors, electrical shock may occur.

You need to remove the cover and expose the area where the motor sits close to the front, you will find a broken belt, replace that, if you can't get to the screw to remove the assembly, use your fingers or screwdriver to turn the cog so that the drawer is manually opened. make sure power cable is unplugged first.

Tray won't open

It could be electrical or mechanical. Without checking there is no way to be sure. You can get the service manual for your model for 10.00 at the following link. That should get the problem taken care off.
