Question about Tomtom ONE GPS Receiver

1 Answer

The installation poster is not very useful

The windshield mount seems to be essentially rigid. Once installed shouldn't it be able to swivel / twist so I can angle it correctly for easy viewing.

Kindly help…Mahesh

Re: The installation poster is not very useful

There are knobs on the horizontal & vertical mount on the old tomtom one's, if you loosen them by turning them anti-clockwise you can then set the desired position.

On the newer models there is a ball joint allowing for adjustment.

If you have a rigid mount then you can try your local dealer to purchase a different one.

I need instructions on how to mount the nuvi 200w to my windshield

To secure the nuvi 200w to your windshield with the included suction cup mount (pictured below),

center the GPS on the clip, and tip the bottom edge on the bracket. Push the top of the GPS against the top clip until it clicks into place. Hold the bracket and GPS near the windshield where you like it best. Note where the suction cup is on the windshield in relation to the mirror, etc. Remove the GPS from the mount's clip by pushing the top tab back from the top of the GPS.

Clean the windshield (or portion that the suction cup will be stuck against) with a paper towel or newspaper and ammonia solution like Windex, etc. Clean the suction cup with the paper towel and Windex, too.

Lift the lever at the base of the mount - is shown in the picture above - if it isn't already. With the mount oriented as shown in the picture above, press the suction cup against the windshield where desired with one hand. Hold the mount firmly against the glass and use your other hand to press the lever on the base back toward the suction cup and glass. Press until it lays flat against the base / suction cup. Plug the power cord into the GPS and reinstall the GPS in the mount clips as done earlier.

To remove from the windshield, release the GPS from the mount clips, and lift the lever away from the base / suction cup. Locate the tab that is connected to the suction cup edge near the lever. Pull on the tab away from the glass to break the suction seal and remove from the windshield.

If this was helpful, please rate it 4 thumbs up. Thanks & good luck!

Mounting of gps can't mount on windsheild.

Tomtom GPS devices come with a variety of windshield suction mounts. All have in common that the windshield and the suction cup both must be clean; use a mild soap dispersed in some warm water to remove any dirt. Rinse properly. Sometimes it helps to keep the cup a little moist.

Make sure the cup is not warped due to previous exposure to heat, and check for any nicks in the rubber. Small damage may easily make the mount unusable and you'd need to get a replacement.

Models with a lever mechanic: open the lever (cup becomes flat), press the cup against the windshield and while keeping pressure, close the lever. It will lift the middle of the cup away from the windshield, causing a vacuum.

Models with a ring around the cup base: Turn the ring all the way counter-clockwise (cup becomes flat), press cup against windshield and while keeping pressure, turn the ring clockwise 90 degrees. This requires some force, but in my experience these mounts stick more reliable,

Need replacement windshield holder

Go back to the store where you bought the unit and see if they have the part you need, if not head to wal mart and see if they have a universal install kit. If the manufacture used standard mounting points then you should be ok with one of the universal units. If not then you might have to go back to the factory to get it. ie call sony and see how much it is for a new mount.

Installing windshield mount

there are two pieces to the mount, the mount and the cradle..the cradle snaps on the gps and the mount slides in the groves on the back of the cradle.

to attach it to the window, lift the lever near the suction cup on the bottom of the firmly against the window, the push lever down toward the windshield to lock it.

you should remove it and reattach it every few weeks to prevent it from falling off the window and damaging the unit.

We installed the car cradle to the windshield but receiver won't adhere to the disk. Please tell us what we did wrong. Thanks, Pat skillman

i think you mean the mount wont adhere to the disk..normally the disk is not used to mount the gps to the windshield, is more for the dash area or another spot where the suction cup wont adhere. the are rare occasions where the disk is needed for the windshield though, but its rare. try ataching it to the windshield without the disk. lift lever at suction cup, press the mount firmly against the windshield, then press the locking lever down to secure the mount. the picture below is the wount in the unlocked position.

form Magellan

This adhesive disk provides an alternative to mounting your Magellan GPS to the windshield of your vehicle. The disk adheres firmly to your dashboard or virtually any surface. Then attach the suction cup of your windshield mount to the disk.

There is a black disc but I do not see any instructions for using it.Does it mount on the windshield?

my Magellen came with a black disk with adhesive on 1 side. Intended to be adhered to any smooth surface (e.g., windshield). The mount for my unit includes a suction cup. So, mount black disk to windshield and attach suction cup to smooth side of black disk. Be sure disk is positioned where suction cup and bracket and GPS will have sufficient room to mount everything.

Garmin gpsmap 378 swivel mount

You have to unscrew the big lockwheel halfway, then push down on it, which will push the swivel mount bracket out so you can remove it and mount it on your boat.

Dashboard mount

I put a little water on the suction cup, and attached to the windshield. Seems to help a little.

Still dangerous. The thing can fall while driving.
