My Sanyo EM S8000-w microwave range quit. I think it is probably a fuse. Do you know how to get into the panel to check? Any help would be appreciated

If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

A microwave can be dead for many reasons.

If it goes dead for a while during or after cooking then comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causing the magnetron thermostat to open. Then when it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

If it's intermittent or random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or a loose fuse holder.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If it goes dead or blows the breaker when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body of the oven.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

I need to change the lightbulb on my em-s5002w Sanyo Microwave. What screwdriver size & style do I need for lower star-shaped screws

The star-shaped screws are called TORX and range in size from T-1 [small] to T-50[ quite large]. a set of inexpensive bits that fit a driver handle can be found at a hardware or auto supply.

Acts as if there is no power but power at the outlet. Neither micro nor vent fan nor light work. Please advise.

Their is a fuse insite the body behind the control panel. You need to replace the fuse.

Microwave blowing fuses

Sanyo isn't that great of a manufacturer.. I had a microwave from them a few years back that did the same thing.. The wiring inside the microwave is shot.. if you were to open it up, you'd probably see some burnt wires from a short. If you use the microwave over a range, it may be because of grease build-up...

anyhow, its better that you invest in a new microwave, rather than fix it. It will be much more cost efficient

Fuse

I'm confused! You say you cannot read? OR, You cannot read the fuse. Remember on fuses, voltage rating is as important as amps. What is the make and model? is there a diagram of the wiring inside? get someone to read the amps (fuse) to you.
Note: Most common is a 15amp (for M/W Oven). Can be purchased at most Hardware Stores.
CAUTION!! Do not over-rate or under-rate the fuse. If it blows with the correct fuse in it Do Not put in a higher amperage fuse!! Can everyone say FIRE!!

It blows the fuse each time open the door if this em-Z2100GS

Probably a bad door switch or door switch mount. It may have gotten damaged or misaligned in shipping.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and
disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Being only 2 months old, I would think you have a warranty, but maybe not. I'd contact the seller to see.
