I have a microsoft wireless comfort keyboard 1.0a How do I unlock it or remove the numlock

Keyboard does not type but wireless mouse keeps on working
I do not get it. The F key to enable the function keys works. Caps Lock and Num Lock do not nor do any other keys. Have done the reset thing numerous times. If I plug in USB keyboard and change the Num Lock status, the wireless keyboard status lights change.
Time to go Keytronic and scrub MS. The kybd is older than 3 years. MS should have stuck to mice.
