I don't like to post anything without some kind sort of solution but this one's been tough.
For a list of what seems to be a chronic issue with RCA. I included a list.

I did come across these two posts, hope it helps.
"well people don't be afraid all you have to do is to change a Horizontal
out put transistor D3402 and that all is common problem I am a tv
technician and already know that this kind of problem is normal good luck"
"It is the front panel on the tv (button panel). I took my friends tv apart and unplugged the button panel from the circuit board
before it turned it's self off and the tv worked fine. It didn't turn
off and on or change channels on it's own. The problem that I found is
that this part is hard to find, online anyway. It can be fixed by a
repair shop, but they will want to charge you 100.00+ dollars to it.
It's simple to take apart and simple to install. The Tv is already
messed up anyway, why not give it a shot if you think you can."

- I tried to do a little more research on you RCA tv problem. I have came across several possible causes for your off again on again tv problem. I will list the simplest first. Power surges could be one possible cause. If your TV plugged into a surge protector try plugging it directly into the wall outlet and see if that doesn't solve the problem. Next you should check the circuit breaker. Make sure it is not being overworked (too many appliances plugged into the same or near by outlet\outlets. Check the circuit breaker itself for signs of deterioration and weakness. You can check this by simply turning the circuit breaker off and on. The best way I can describe it is that a good switch will have a strong crisp feel to it and bad one will feel weak. The most prevalent cause for the switching on and off seems to be the task switches located behind the control panel on the front of the unit. One method that might work is to use a small can of compressed air (found and office supply stores, used to clean electronics), and blast air in and around the front panel control buttons. Also just working them on and off (with tv power disconnected), for awhile might free them up.
If none of these work then I have included a link to a web site with a picture of the offending switch. This type of switch can be found at Radio Shack and similar electronics shops and are quite cheap. If you have any kind of soldering experience with small components you should be able to replace these yourself. It will require you to disconnect the power and remove the cabinet section of the TV.
WARNING: IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THIS TYPE OF REPAIR AT ALL IT IS INADVISABLE TO ATTEMPT IT ON YOUR OWN!
If you are still with this then before you purchase anything a simple way to test this is to disconnect the front panel controls. But this will still require some dis-assembly.

I hope something here helps the issue for you. Good luck
