Look inside the refrigerator section for a switch that says high moisture or energy saver . Some units allow the door frame heaters to be turned off during times of the year when the humidity is low.

Have a GE side by side gsh22sgress unit. Child left freezer door open. Unit ran for days (in non-occupied appartment). Meat thawed. Cleaned unit inside with mild soapy mix. Unit runs but will not cool...

Open door let too much moisture into refrigerator. (The cooling coils, behind the back wall of the freezer compartment, are blocked with frost) If you unplug the refrig for a day or so it will work again, or you can take the back wall out from inside the freezer and melt the frost with a hair blower.

I have a GE profile side x side refrig. The

Your owners manual , will tell you the minimum clearences for the refrig . If I have 2 refrig's on my test line , less than 2 " apart , both will emit moisture on the sides , depending on the weather . There has to be air flow on the sides and rear . Sorry this doesn't answer your question directly , but there is no product that can be installed , to stop this problem with the refrig . However , you may , pull the refrig out , and treat the faceing wood , with a waterproof paint or sealant . It sounds like this part of the cabinet , will not be seen . Plastic will not work , moisture will just go thru it . Yes , treating the faceing wood sounds like the most logical solution .

Water and ice slowly disapeared

When your refrig. is operating , The cool air is dehydrating the surrounding area inside. You will find if you leave a ice tray with water in the freezer for a month. There will be nothing left. This moisture ends up in drip tray on bottom refrigerator . Which evaporates into air outside the refrig..

On a Designer Style top freezer fridge, what is the switch for Power Saving? It says, less power, or otherwise less moisture (red light on).

the power saver switch is used to activate a low wattage heater in the center rail between the freezer and refrig door to prevent moisture build in hot humid locations. if you live in a dry arid location then using it on pwer saver will save you some money on your power bill. if it sweats between the doors then the switch needs to be set to  reduce moisture to prevent mold and mildew build up on the seals and the water dripping on the floor. thanks Peyton

Repainting doors on whirlpool white refrigerator

oowwwww!!! thats what we call in the refrig biz "refrig cancer" the door itself is actually rusting from the inside out. the older refrigs used fiberglass insulation inside the doors which has a tendency to hold moisture, and overthe years rusts through. the new door use blown-in poly styrene foam far less likey to hold moisture. That being said you could remove the door lightly sand and paint, can of krylon enamal aint should do it, at least for a little while anyway

Outside of freezer is hot

HI thanks for the question. the heat around the cabinet and doors is normal . the heat prevents moisture from hitting a cold surface, and turning to water , which would cause water to run down the sides, rusting the hinges. thanks the appliance doc. please rate my answer. thanks.

NOT LEVEL

Lower the front. But the back needs to be slightly lower that the front in order for the door to swing shut atomatically. While your working under the front, check the condenser coil (wire racks, usually 2-3 layers with a 1/2 inch space between them). Use a vaccum cleaner and **** out any dust. This will make the refrig run less and cool better.

Outside of refrig/freezer hot

Heat exchangers for rejecting heat to air are built into the outside walls. This is normal. Just make sure you have enough clearance for free air circulation around it.
