What do you need to do that for, it will not "do" anything apart from make the system look for hardware and real time for the on board clock. Download the latest bios firmware from Samsung and install it. Then you will have the latest version.

How to fix Time-of-day clock stopped

Is it actually stopped or does it return to a default time when the laptop is unplugged for a while?
I assume you have already reset the clock, it's located in control panel under Date & Time. You can also set the clock in the BIOS.
If the time does not advance at all, your motherboard will have to be replaced as the clock chip is not replaceable.
If the clock just needs to be reset every time you use the laptop, you might try leaving it plugged in overnight to recharge the clock battery. If that doesn't help, the clock battery is bad.

My date and clock keep reverting to 2001 every time I close and reopen my computer?

    Hi,

when you first power up the machine, go into the bios settings and check the clock in there, if this is wrong, it will reset your windows system time. Reset to the proper time and then when you go into windows your time should be correct, if not, correct it and restart. If the problem persists and the bios time resets itself, you will need to change your bios battery. This is a flat cell type battery, usually a cr2032. They are cheap and easy to replace and should sort your problem.

    Hope this is helpful.

Take the cmose batters out of the holder for 10 minutes and then reinastall. This will reset the bios back to factory. Sometimes they corrupt when settin idor for a long time and the battery (cmos batter loses its juice. A good indication is if the clock has lost or gained time indicating low cmos battery. Might want to replace the cmos battery. Their are only a couple of bucks at best buy.
