Cannot switch from LCD to viewfinder - Minolta Dimage Z1

I cannot switch from LCD to viewfinder display. It doesn't appear to make a difference which position the switch is in, it only displays on the LCD. I have changed the batteries already, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Could it be just the switch, or do you know if there is something I can adjust through the menu? Thanks!
