I had the same problem. Ended up replacing the black/yellow "printhead" and that corrected the problem.

SOURCE: how do i clean the printheads on a hp officejet

hp printers have a utility program that cleans and purges the printer heads. Go to HP on your startup menu and look through the options....mine is located in the "hp solutions center".

It has an option for purging the printer heads.

SOURCE: HP Officejet Pro L7650 Print head problem

The reason why the printer refuses to print if you get low on one or more colors is that the system runs off negative pressure through the ink lines to the print head. If you were able to continue printing with an empty cartridge you could get air in the respective ink line, disrupt the negative pressure, make it so that that color will no longer print, and require you to get the printer serviced to fix the problem. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I feel this is a good machine (compared to some of the others out there). The only down side with this type of machine is the print heads expiring or getting clogged as you are experiencing. The reason the black is clogged and not the other colors is that the black ink is pigment based and the colors are dye based. The pigment based inks do tend to clog print heads over time. You can try to rehydrate the print head with warm distilled water. if you can't get it working to your satisfaction you can buy a new black/yellow print head for $72. With this type of printer you should print at least one black and white and one color document per week to keep the print heads fresh. If they sit too long without ink flowing through them then they can get clogged and print poorly. I hope this helps belay some of the resentment you hold towards your printer.

How can I fix my printer problem? after changing my ink cartridge it stills tells me that the cartridge is empty and to load a new one. There is ink spilled inside the cabinet

I have had this problem HP as well.

Be sure the protective cover on the bottom of the cartridge has been removed.

Some printers have a "sensor" built into the cartridge that "tells" the printer when it is empty. If you are using a generic cartridge that might also be a problem.

Hope this helps.

5610 hp printer shows insert cartridge on right when i changed to new cartridges. they are new cartridges and are inserted correctly

try this

- Remove the cartridge that is not working. - look for a lint free cloth "coffee filter" then dump w/ water - clean the copper contacts of the cartridge - make sure that the air vent is open; if not pinch it a bit - remove all the cartridges - check if there are are inks spills - use lint free cloth to clean the part where you are have trouble with - install the inks again - run alignment and clean cartridges on the panel
if still nothing works, call HP tech support and ask for replacement of the ink.
note: they will do the same steps again for troubleshooting and documentations. the reason why this happens: - that the copper contact does not touch each other - cartridge air vent is sealed - not an orig HP ink - Print head problem, needs cleaning

Ink spilled inside

It may be too late. That ink is caustic to the circuit board. To get to it is a real chore and probably not worth the effort.

I took a plate off the bottom of my HP 6210 to clean up as much ink that had spilled as possible. I now have a 3 pieces to put back. The gray plate, a black "L" shaped piece and a retangular white sponge...

The white rectangle goes under the cleaning station, which is the black plastic box on the right as you look from the front of the printer. It also helps for ink overflow.

HP OfficeJet 9110 Printhead Problem

This is the official way of cleaning HP print heads. I just totally dissasembled my HP 80 print head, and found that on the inside of the print head there was a giant glob of ink that was between the inside of the print head and a metal mesh filter material. You need to remove this glob, can only be done by opening the cartridge. Good luck, tell me what happened.

Printer cartridges

Dispose of the leaky cartridge. Clean the contacts in the machine with a little rubing alcohol and a q tip (don't soak it-just moistened it a bit) Make sure the Printer is turned off while you are doing this. While you are doing this I will look up your cartridges and what they are for. I suspect that you have a color cartridge/a regular black cartridge/ and a black printing only cartride but I will check. Don't ever use a leaking cartridge they can damage your printer.
