Murphy- It fixed itself. I think the computer just overheated and stayed that way for a long time. My guess is that the processor has an auto shutoff like a lot of laptops, and that it just has a set amount of time before it will come back on (an oddly long one). The only reason i was really worried was the ozone smell. That means melting plastic.
If yours is still having trouble, make sure it stays unplugged for a day, then try to plug it in again. If it works and has the same problem later, your heat sink probably needs to be cleaned of dust and particles. If it won't come back on at all, it might mean a fried processor or something less catastrophic but equally annoying, like a melted diode or something after the power light circuit but before the processor/boot sector.

roxio and cyberlink DVD software are asking me to reset my display setting. but system is showing a plug and play monitor is active and the setting that meets both copy software company minimum settings. but it looks like when both companys software trys to open they only see the default monitor setting of 800 x 600 at 8 bits ? even when I attempt to change the resuluion I hit the apply button and the setting goes right back to 8 bit setting, I can not change that on my netbook to a higher bit rate even though it has both 16 and 32 bit showing HELP !! I would love to use the CD/DVD software.
