My Samsung video cassette recorder (VR8460 or VR5460) is giving error message SAFE. Can you help me clear it? It will not power off. I have not tried unplugging yet.

Hi. I don't know if you have solved this problenm yet, but that isn't an error. Just press Display button about 5 seconds and that's all. It's just a safety feature to avoid someone from changing setup whet it's prepared to timer record.

need make and model, most of the time you can just connect to line output og vcr to line input , has to be a dvd recorder not just a player.

Just pick up an old used VCR that has a tuner built in. Only the very new ones don't have them (due to the DTV switch coming up in February).

Recording Problems

Most tv sets with freeview built in do not allow you to record it.
Check your tv instruction manual to see if it is at all possible.

DVD Player/Video Cassette Recorder

Hi It sounds like possibly there is stray RF getting into your video signal from your DVD/VCR combo to your tv. Check that your cables are ok, but also, if you can, try moving the unit in relation to the tv, if it is underneath, try putting it on top or beside the tv, I've seen the effect you describe be cause by lack of sheilding in both the tv and DVD/VCR, and moving the unit could cure it. Good Luck!
