It is just not working..........

I've had this drive for awhile. But it is a good piece or hardware and I like it. It meets my needs and works fine. Until the last update. Now, it is not coming up at all on my computer, and it will not read cd's. But, the light is on and the door opens? I opened my computer up and installed a new ribbon because I thought maybe the old was messed up in some way and it did nothing? Any idea what is wrong with it?
