Re: Cleaning Memory

I would assume that by "How can i clear my memory slots?" you are referring to removing some programs that run in the background and gobble up your memory.
In most Windows versions, you need to go to Start/Run and type "msconfig". On the windows that will pop-up, you need to click on the Startup tab. Uncheck all programs that are not essential to operation. Examples are Nero check, Adobe Reader_sl, Printer/Scanner Update and others. Additionally you can go to your Windows Task Manager and click on the Performance tab. Take note of the Total and the Available Physical memory. Click on the Processes tab. Determine which background program is running and using high memory.

Of course the simplest solution would be to add more memory.

Hope that this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

lizgoodwi537 I would like you to take the Ram Memory module/s out ('Stick'), and clean the gold plated contact pins on the bottom.

Typical example of a ram memory module showing the gold plated contact pins,

(You can click on the photo to enlarge. You can enlarge twice)

Computer on a table, computer unplugged from power, computer case open, Observe Anti-Static Precautions.

Use a pencil eraser to clean the contact pins. Both sides of the ram memory module have contact pins.
If you are Not using a solid pencil eraser, and the eraser on the end of a pencil, refrain from letting the metal band touch the contact pins.

Doesn't take much pressure. Just rub the eraser up, and down on each contact pin.
When you are finished it may look as though you have done nothing at all. The contact pin may not be much brighter than when you started.

It's okay I assure you that you have made a difference.
The gold plated contact pins corrode after a while from sitting. Doesn't take much corrosion to make a bad contact.

When you are finished cleaning, use air to remove the eraser dust. You can use a can of compressed air for computers, if available, or air pressure from your mouth will be sufficient.
Reinstall the ram memory module/s.

Close the computer case, plug the computer into power.
WAIT 1 minute, then turn the computer on.

Let's start with this easy procedure first.
Past this point we will be looking for bad Electrolytic Capacitors on the motherboard, and then into the Power Supply.

My pc just automatically turning off.. can you help me? pls..

Try using a known good working power supply in that PC. If it still turns off then you know your original power supply is good.

After that then the next thing to try is to take the processor and memory out. Take a can of air and blow some air onto the pins to make sure no dust or dirt is there and do the same for the memory.

Then go ahead and put the cpu back into its socket and the memory back into the slots.

If your still running into the same problem then the motherboard is bad at that point.

When i press the on switch the computer light turn red color and have a beep sound.

1 or 2 beeps is normal when turning on, for most mobo's. Check the motherboard owners manual for beep errors, for example 3 beeps might be a graphics card error, 4 keyboard error, or CPU or memory. it's in the manual for the specific motherboard. You can get it from the manufacturer's website. I can not supply a link to get you the online manual because you didn't specify what kind of motherboard you are using. Does it still boot? Do you see the BIOS on screen? Any error messages? When you press the power button your computer normally should beep once or twice and then performs a POST... Power-On-Self-Test. and this is when you get any error beeps. It could be something simple like forgot to hook up the monitor, to CPU or memory is loose, or memory is not compatible if you upgraded the memory.

Comp does not turn on. green light off but goes on when mobo disconnected

Test the power supply in another computer.
If that works, the next thing is to check the mother board. Remove all daughter boards from the slots. Remove all memory, disconnect all hard drives, cdroms, etc.
Make sure there is nothing plugged into the mother board except the video cable (if it is on-board video), if not, then make sure you have a good video card plugged in.
Again with no memory, no boards except a video card, if needed, and the power plugged into the board.
Turn on the power, and watch the screen. If it works, then you should get a notice that there is no memory, no hard drive, and so on.
If that is the case, then proceed to install one item at a time to isolate the problem. If it is not the case, the the mother board is probably bad. One other thing to check would be the CPU.
If you get no notice with the above, then the cpu could be bad. Check it in another computer, if possible. This should tell you what the problems are or is.
In the above cases, either the cpu or the mother board can be isolated to see what is bad, if any.

Aspire 7520 will not power up ,the power light is blincking rapidly

A few things to try. Take out the battery and only hook up the ac adapter, if that doesn't work, then go ahead and try another known good working ac adapter cause it could be its not getting all the right voltages since the power light is blinking rapidly.

If those things don't work. Go ahead and take out the memory and resesat the memory one stick at a time in each slot one at a time turning on the laptop after each stick reinsertion to see if the video comes back. Could be that a memory stick is bad or a slot is bad.

Also if you have another known good working memory stick then try it in each slot as well just to make sure that both wouldn't have gone bad on you.

The last two things to try would be taking out the hard drive and also taking out the dvd drive. After each of all the steps im telling you to try make sure the power is off and then turn it on with each step.

At that point if you still can't get video then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

How much ram can i install on a hp compaq d220mt?

Laptop Computer Memory Desktop Computer Memory Printer Memory Memory Applications All data processing and execution takes place within the memory module(s). The program's directions are replicated into memory from a hard drive, external drive or from a network. The processor then extracts the directions from the memory and puts it into the circuit for analysis and execution.
Memory is so important that it cannot be wasted. RAM is allocated by the operating system and programs, and then released when not needed. Errant applications can grip RAM and not release it, which results in a diminishing amount of memory available as you load and use more programs.
If you could actually look into memory, you would be astonished. By watching how much and how quick data and commands are written in and out of it each day, you would realize it is a marvel that it works so we is here to help you speed up and breathe new life into your computer by adding more RAM memory! We have hundreds of relationships with different manufacturers and carry all major computer memory brands. This includes Dell Memory, HP Memory, Samsung Memory, Micron Memory, Toshiba Memory and many, many more. We can cut through all that computer jargon and provide you with the part that will work each and every time.
