Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console
Hello, I have a psp which is a year and a half old. It was playing perfectly. I shut it off and then when I turned it back on there is a black solid line on the bottom of the screen which will not go away no matter if I am watching a movie or playing a game. Can you tell me what this might be??
You can get a New replacement LCD for $35 at www.blackberry8100parts.com

This is definitely a broken LCD display screen. Since it's out of warranty you'll have to pay to have Sony repair it or just buy a new one. Bummer. Sorry to hear that you're having this trouble.

Tips for a great answer:
Ok it sounds as if your friend has bricked your PSP. Please be careful when you are updating your PSP as this will brick your PSP. Let me give you a quick overview of what happens when your PSP updates, first of all your PSP will erase it's operating system and write a new Operating system, this is why it will not turn on completely if you lose power while it's updating. ONLY UPDATE YOUR PSP IF IT'S COMPLETELY CHARGED AND PLUGGED IN FOR SAFETY REASONS. I will not post the solution to this problem for it is too long to post up here, YouTube has many videos on how to un-brick your PSP. Best of luck, for the solution you can email me at email@example.com
