Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a 21 year old Kenmore washing maching (model 82873800). It is leaking when it is filling up. The water is not coming from the hoses or the center shaft. When I lean the washer over, I can reach underneath and feel a water on the plastic casing that holds the drum. Any ideas?

I'd go to the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.82873800%29

and check the sub-components lists for a gasket or part under the tub that keeps the water from leaking.

With a 21 year old washer, it's likely that one of the rubber or plastic gaskets has finally worn.

The washing maching is leaking bottom right side.

Check the clamps that hold the rubber door boot in place. Also check your hot and cold water fill hoses to make sure they are tight.

Leaking water from the front of the washer checked the hoses and they are not leaking

If this is a top load washer the problem is usually the pump. If you can tilt the washer up at the front and support with two pieces of 2x4. Shine a light under the maching and take a mirror to observe. Fill the washer 1/2 full of water and advance the time into the spin cycle. Observe under the maching to see where it is leaking. The pump is located at the front of the washer. If the pump is leaking, replace the pump.

Leaks at bottom lefthand corner when filling

On that model it's easy to unscrew the front and take it off. You can then see the hoses etc to see where the water is coming from. I had to replace the drain hose on mine.

Water hose leaks at the washer connection

Did you change the rubber washers in the hose? or did you use the old ones there should be a rubber washer inside the front of the hose.

10 year old model kenmore top load washing maching won't fill.

That means that eithere the membrane water lever switch is faulty (most common) or that the drain pump solenoid is stuck on open.
