Question about GE Ovens

1 Answer

How do I know when the oven has reached the set temperature? Is it supposed to buzz or something? I don't know what signal to look out for and I need to know when my oven is hot enough to put the food in. I never got a manual with this oven because it came with my apartment. Help! I can't live without my oven!

Yes I expected it to have a light, but there is none! This is the most frustrating oven I've ever used! Will ask the property manager for an oven manual tomorrow. This was a new oven that they installed when I moved in this month. Hopefully they still have the manual. In the mean time, I'll have to turn the dial back and forth past the temperature I need, and listen for the little click of the thermostat to know what temperature the oven's reached. Thanks for your help though.. and quick response! :)

You should have an indicator light next to the temp dial. When the oven reaches the set temp the light will go out. It indicates that the oven is not up to temeprature when it is illuminated.

Why is the oven bell not ringing when it reaches the set temperature.

If the temperature reached at it operating temperature and oven display doesn't showing how much time left for ready screen then most probably its IO board gone.
I have seen many cases like this, and replacing IO Board fixed the problem.

Please rate my work
Thanks

Is it dangerest when your oven beeps f2

Typically an oven beeps when the interior temperature macthes the temperature where you set the dial. This is an audible signal to that fact and particularly helpful when you need to pre-heat the oven. For example it you want to cook something at 350 degrees, you set the dial at 350. When your oven reaches that temperature it beeps to let you know. Some cooking directions tell you to preheat your oven. In that case, when you set the dial to 350 and wait for the beep...you know you are safe to start your cooking process because the oven is now pre-heated to the temperature you set. If your recipe requires a pre-heated oven, and you don't wait for the beep, your taking a guess at what temperature you're cooking your food. Additionally, if you want to know what the internal temperature of oven is and your oven is heated...you simply turn you dial setting and listen for the beep. Again, if you set your oven at 350 and you want to know how hot your oven is... slowly turn the dial setting. If the oven beeps at 275 then that's how hot your oven has gotten. To let it finish heating to 350 just reset the dial and wait for the beep.

Looking for a manual for Whirlpool BS0801/WH oven

I have a paper copy of the manual - if you need to know anything more than the information below post a more specific question.

The function symbols on Knob F, clockwise from the top, are as follows:
  • 0 = Off
  • Lamp symbol = Lamp Only, no fan, no heating.
  • Fan + Drip Symbol = Lamp + Fan, but no Heating - this is for defrosting.
  • Fan inside a Circle symbol = Lamp + Fan + Oven Heating - this is the normal cooking position. The temperature of the oven is set on the Temperature Knob.
  • Final position = Grill. The temperature of the Grill is set on the Grill knob.
The red indicator light only comes on when the Oven is heating (not the Grill), and goes off when the oven has reached it's set temperature.

The bulb is 25W 230V Type E-14 300 Degree C.

The oven draws a maximum of 2300W so requires a 10A supply.

How does the power level work in conjunction with the Thermostat? does the power goe through the Stat first or the power level.

Hello. These two areas within your oven operate on two separate systems because they operate on very different voltage needs and thus very different size wire. The thermostat is right behind the knob you use to set the oven baking temperature. There's a long, thin copper tube attached to this knob that leads into the oven compartment. It senses the temperature inside the oven and signals the thermostat to provide or prevent further heating. There's another type of thermostat--an electronic/mechanical hybrid unit--that has a small electronic circuit board behind the knob. It has a sensor attached to it--about the size of a 4- to 6-inch pencil, that protrudes into the oven. When the oven reaches the temperature you set, the sensor signals the circuit board, which turns off the electric burner(s) in the oven.

Cleaned oven, now baking element not working-element is good-buzz

This F-3 is concerning a Open oven temperature sensor (circuit) (over 2700 ohms) or, shorted oven temperature sensor. Could be a result of:
· contamination on terminals
· pinched wire in oven temperature sensor circuit
· cold solder joint on control.

Solution--
· Disconnect power to range and remove oven temperature sensor connector from control.
· Measure oven temperature sensor resistance at oven temperature sensor connector (take care not to damage terminals in block) - Should read 1100 ohms at room temperature (approx 72 degrees F).
· Measure each oven temperature sensor lead from connector block to ground. If shorted, look for pinched or cut wire in oven temperature sensor circuit.
· Check connector terminals - Look for deformed or corrosion on terminals. Repair or replace.
If all above is ok replace control.

Gas oven won't maintain temp. It turns off after reaching temperature set.

Hi ya mate sorry to hear your having problems with you oven,

The problem wiht your oven seems to ba a faliure of the fsd/ffd, it seems to me that this device is not completey gone but is faulty.

This device is used as a safety feature on gas ovens and is there to turn the gas off to the oven when the flame has failed.

The way it works is that the intial small flame heats up the the phile at the end of the cappliary tube which is connected to a valave which realses the gas to the oven..

what you need is to have it change

hope this helps

cheers
