You mentioned monitor. this is a laptop right? so monitor is the lcd correct? now when you turned on the laptop and sees dell logo it means display is ok. after windows logo or after you type in your password display goes black? try startup repair first. using the windows media.

Wont boot/ says auto config over and over

Then use Recovery Console:
To boot from the Windows XP CD, insert it into the CD-ROMdrive on the problem system and press [Ctrl][Alt][Delete] to reboot thecomputer. Once the system begins booting from the CD, simply follow the promptsthat will allow the loading of the basic files needed to run Setup. When yousee the Welcome To Setup screen, press R to start the Recovery Console.

You'll then see a Recovery Console menu. It displays the foldercontaining the operating system's files and prompts you to choose the operatingsystem you want to log on to. Just press the menu number on the keyboard, andyou'll be prompted to enter the Administrator's password. You'll then findyourself at the main Recovery Console prompt.

After restarting windows use a system utility software like RegInOut.

Green display on boot up Please help

Check to see that there are no machine BIOS settings that could affect the monitor. Normally, the bios controls display until the OS takes over. If your XP screen after bootup looks fine, I don't see how you have a problem with your monitor setup under Windows.

My computer crashed win7 theme error

try to boot from windows7 cd-rom, without installing it, choose fixing errors.

if impossible at first try,

press F2-button while system boot(before windows takes over),
enter bios-setup and change

BOOT DEVICE PRIORITY to

1st: CD/DVD
2nd: Hard disk/HDD
3rd: (whatsoever availabe)
.
.

please remember to exit BIOS saving changes!
(press Esc button after changing the above, confirm: ...Exit bios saving changes ? - Yes)

if you are asked now :

boot from cd-rom or hdd ?

choose cd-rom, let it work and wait.
in the following, do not reinstall windows 7
but choose a repair option,
leave the setup, remove cd/dvd etc from all drives and reboot, wait.

the regular windows screen should show up...
if this does not work, please ask s.o. who knows around with win 7 or think of downgrading from win7 to winxp professional.
as it is older but reliable, still supported and some win-pro's use it.
win 7 features are available but you'll need time to set up the whole system, incl. drivers etc.

this could work...if not ask me to post some links

now retry to boot from Windows 7 CD-ROM,
do not install, cjoose repa

all i can recommend: if you are a bit into computers, think of swapping from windows 7

Error before welcome screen, double picture in welcome screen, hang after welcomescreen

If your monitor is showing weird colors before the Windows XP welcome screen then it might be that your monitor is bad. Try hooking up a different monitor and see if the colors look fine as the computer is booting up, if it does then you know the original monitor is bad, if the colors still look weird then you know your video card is going bad.

As far as the lockups are concerned, with the computer turned off, take out the memory. With a can of air, blow some on the contacts of the memory and into the memory slots on the motherboard. You want to do this to make sure that there is no dust or dirt cause that can cause lockups to happen.

If you need more help, just let me know.

Is this a Software/Config/Hardware Problem ?

hmmm..sounds like a sleep or screen saver conflict...try booting up on Safe mode(F8) on turn on, and then see how that works. Set your screen saver for Never, and see what happens.

You may be hitting a thermal issue with your video circuitry.

Is this a Software/Config/Hardware Problem ?

Apparently someone must have went into your properties, By right clicking anywhere on the desktop, Choose properties and then screen saver and then power options, Once there look into the setting for hibernation, standby, sleep make sure that they are set so not shut monitor off after so many minutes. What I am thinking is when you quit using your mouse for any amount of time it turns the monitor off. I hope that gets you going, If not you can Write back here and ask me again we can look for another solution. Thanks

Try an external monitor if you can see that ecerything you created is as then your LCD is on the way out. I would then say its a coincidence it happened at the time you changed the theme.
