If the drive is seen in bios, but not in windows, this will usually resolve the issue.

You need to test if this problem lies with your DVD drive or if the problem lies with software that is installed on your notebook.

Try updating your media player to the latest version.
Use another media player, VLC media player is free and it is compatable with lots of different file formats. Download it and then install it on your notebook computer.

If your DVD drive is not reading the disks then the drive may need the latest drivers or there is a bad connection between the mainboard of your computer and the DVD drive.

Take care!

Hi..I have a Inspiron 15. I am trying to download the driver for my my new printer but DVD drive can't read the CD

The sollution is to get on the support site of the printer's manufacturer..and in there select the driver downloads...and the exact model ..and operation system ..and download it from there ...Usually if you google with the manufacturer's name and the word support near it will guide you to the site you need...After that just seek the driver by model and OS ..

Dvd drive wont work

try the following

Right click My Computer / Manage / Storage / Storage Management. can you see on the right in the graphical display the DVD drive? if yes, does it have a drive letter? if no, right click on it and assign any unused drive letter. after this assignment the drive should show up again in My Computer.

If this doesn't work go in the device manager. is there a yellow exclamation mark or even a red sign beside the DVD/CD drive? if yes double click this entry. on the new window click on the "Driver" tab. click on "driver update", then follow the instructions on the screen

If still facing the issue means

Open the below site and download the driver.

Lost DVD drive

Try removing the player from your laptop and rebooting without it. Shut it down and put the player back in then restart again. That should force windows to reinstall it. If it's not seen when rebooting the device is probably bad.

New Dell Inspiron, wont play DVD's states no device drivers and ref TSSTcorp DVD 2B RW TS L633B

You need to use the software to play DVD movies. Try using windows media player to start the DVD or if the computer came with DVD playing software then try it. You can also check the Dell site and download the latest driver package and install the drivers. It might be missing the dvd rom driver. When you put in the DVD does it autoplay and ask you what software to use to open the disc? You can also go into the control panel and check the device manager. Check and see if the dvd rom is a problem device and/or try to update driver for the device. Have you tried different dvds? Maybe it is having a problem with just that DVD. Some DVD's will not play in a computer but will play in a DVD player.

DVD drive will not respond to any form of media inserted into the drive. My computer is a Dell inspiron 530s. I'm running Windows XP

did you install the driver of your motherboard?if so,you need to download and install the dvd decoder for your media from the manufacturers site. if you cannot play even cd, the problem is in your dvd drive.if your dvd drive comes with a driver then you have to install it.actually there are more solutions to your problem try follow the solution I've mention first, and if its still not working post your reply and i will give you another solution.

Cannot play dvds as drivers lost when changing from vista to xp home.when enter dvd it says dvd decoder and drives lost

If you are running XP, you will need to install a DVD playback application. IN VIsta, DVD playback is native to WIndows, in XP, Dell used a program called Cyberlink PowerDVD. You can either buy PowerDVD on line or download a free DVD playback application from places like I've had good luck with the AVS DVD player here:

If you just installed XP on this system, it is also important that all the drivers are installed and in the correct order. Dell's preferred order is:

Notebook System Software
Chipset Utility
Video Driver
Sound Driver
Modem Driver
Network Driver
Wireless Driver
Touchpad Driver
Quickset Utility

Drivers are available here:
