In orde rto receive the wireless signal on your laptop, make sure the wireless adapter is turned on. If you see a computer on the lower right f the screen and highlight it, it should say wireless signals available. Click it and find the wireless signal that is the highest. If you don't have a wep security password setup, it should connect right away. If this is not what you're asking please clarify in more detail what you're trying to do.

I'll assume that one of the Linksys is a router and the other a card that goes into your laptop.

You must have DSL, cable or Satellite connection. Connect the router straight to the laptop and run the installation CD that came with the router. If it is used and did not come with an installation disk, you can download free from Linksys website.

After configuring the router, place the installation CD for the card into your laptop. Do not plug the card in until it asks. This installs the drivers for the card.

Reboot your computer and on the bottom, you will see "wireless networks available." Clock on this message to connect to internet.

The modem provides the internet connection. The router provides the wireless access and the card enables you to connect to the router.

I'm trying to set up Wii with a wrtu54g-tm router. will it work? So far no luck. do I need a key?

Yes it will work, and yes you need to know your key (WEP) After you connect you have to download "opera" so you can browse the internet though.
Your network should appear on your TV screen and it will display your network name (SSID). Select your network and click connect. When asked, type in your network key. Your Wii will then connect.

How do I find the encryption key number on the wrtu54g

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
Is there any computer online using the router.
check the IP address on that computer.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings.
Click Here for more information about the routers and network

**I m not able to find a snapshot of the router interface. But i ll tell you what all to do there
1) Disable the router's inbuilt firewall
2) Enable DMZ for your Wii's IP address; assign this same IP address on your Wii manually
3) Change the bandwidth of wireless to 20/40MHz

set your modem to a bridge mode and use the PPPoE connection on the router so that the NAT feature on your modem will allow the VOIP connection on your router.

Necessaty of sim card

If you will just use the router for internet via wireless there is no need for you to have a sim card. The sim card is use for the telephone feature on the router, you will be charge based from the providers rates.
