Took the temp. control out and found it wasn't working. Not spending the money to fix it.

This is quite a common problem. It sounds as though the thermostat is faulty and needs replacing.

The turn dial that controls your fridge temp also controls the freezer temp. The freezer air is directly forced into the freezer compartment and then sent to the reigerator. Adjust the dial for the fridge not to be so cold and it will adjust the feezer also. Allow about 24 hours for any noticeable change.

Most likely your computer board got zapped. It's usually located on the back of the unit. Have you tried to reset the unit by leaving it unplugged for about 20 minutes?

SOURCE: Hi, I have a GE

Hi Mark and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Touch the front of the unit where the doors close and feel if it is very very warm to the touch. If it is very warm to the touch... here are the prime suspects:
1. condenser coils covered in lint
2. condenser fan not running or running slow.

An easy way to determine if there is a condenser fan or coil fan problem is to simply direct a floor fan at the base if the refrigerator. If it cools down substantially in an hour.... there is a problem with the coils being clogged or the condenser fan not running. If that makes no difference... before opening the back of the unit... inspect the back wall of the freezer compartment for any signs of ice build up. If you see ice-build up.... unplug the unit.. remove freezer contents and direct that fan into the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours. Then return the unit to normal service.... If the temps come down to normal... for 2 - 3 days then start creeping up again... you have an automatic defrosting problem.

Forgot to mention... make sure the evaporator fan is running at full speed.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

AT WHAT TEMPERATURE SHOULD I SET MY TRUE GDM-10 REFRIGERATOR 1,O,9,8?

You need to put a thermometer inside with what you are storing. The numbers will vary and are for reference only. Temperature should be 35 to 37 degrees f. Adjust number on dial once every 2 hours or so. Give the system time to react and cycle at least 3 times before taking a temperature reading. Good luck and hope this helps.

How to set temp

Put a thermometer inside the refrigerator and once you get a stable reading turn the dial one number at a time. Give the refrigerator time to adjust, say 3 cycles before you check the temperature again. Keep doing this until you reach 35 to 37 degrees f. Hope this helps and good luck.

Fridge not cold enough

The higher the number the colder the temp is supposed to be.

In order to prevent the formation of bacteria and other such organisms to affect food the way it does, the ideal temperature range of refrigerators has been mentioned here. Before we look at these settings, it is important to know the format in which temperatures are represented within a refrigerator. Commonly, you will notice a dial representing the figures 1-5 or 1-9 in the refrigerator, and a dial representing the letters A-E in the freezer. The ideal setting is usually in the middle of such figures.

If the dial is in such a format in your refrigerator, try a setting at 3 if the range is 1-5, and at 4 if the range is 1-9. For the freezer, a setting at C is suitable.

The ideal temperature in the refrigerator ranges between 34 degrees F - 38 degrees F or 1 degrees C - 3 degrees C. So that foods such as vegetables and fruits remain fresh and crisp, the temperature may be set around 38 degrees F or 3 degrees C.
The ideal temperature in the freezer ranges around 0 degrees F (-18 degrees C) or lower.

I dont understand temp dial on LG 232SBF Frost free fridge freezer

Hello there and welcome to fixya
this is actually a simple dial
this is what they mean
C= COLDER THIS IS THE SETTING IF YOU WANT TO LOWER THE TEMPERATURE FROM LETS SAY 38 DEGREES TO 35 DEGREES THEN YOU WOULD TURN THE DIAL A LITTLE BIT TOWARDS THE C
N= NORMAL RANGE THIS IS WHERE IT SHOULD BE SET AT AFTER IT IS AT THE TEMPS ARE ALLOWED TO STABILIZE
W=WARMER MEANING IF THE REFRIGERATOR IS TOO COLD MOVE IT TOWARDS THE W A FEW NOTCHES THIS WILL INCREASE THE TEMP MAKING IT A LITTLE BIT WARMER INSIDE OF THE REFRIGERATOR
OK? HOPE THIS HELPS PLEASE IF THIS HELPS GIVE MEA GOOD RATING I NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET
BEST REGARDS MIKE

I have a brand new hoover black fridge freezer - only 3 days old and the freezer section is fine but i cant get the fridge to get below 7 degrees it makes no difference if i turn the dial to low or high....

The ideal refrigerator temperature is 35° F (1.6° C). You're not hugging the danger zone like you would be at 40° F (4.4° C), and you're distancing yourself sufficiently from 32° F (0° C) that you don't freeze half the stuff in your refrigerator.
Not cool enough!

turn your freezer temp dial to off and wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on to max setting. if you have temp gauage you can try to check temp inside freezer, if not cold enough (less than 30 degrees) you could be losing freon gas. you need to call technician.

With the refrigerator, the fan inside the conditioned space should always run. This is normal for most all commercial refrigerators. Need to check to see if the unit is shutting off the compressor after the conditioned space reaches a good temp, usually 35 degrees. If not, probably a bad thermostat.

Cooler wont cool below 48 degrees.

Keep a thermometer handy. (adjust temperature control knob accordingly)
Periodically monitor temperatures inside your cooler. (adjust as necessary)
Keep the refrigerator door closed as much as possible to avoid temperature fluctuations

The temperature of the refrigerator compartment is
controlled by adjusting/setting the thermostat control
knob, located on the ceiling of the refrigerator
cabinet.
To start the refrigerator, and achieve maximum
cooling quickly;
• Turn the temperature control knob (using a coin
or screwdriver) clockwise to the furthest
(maximum) setting on the darker blue section of
the graduated control dial.
• Allow the refrigerator to run at this setting for 3~4
hours.
• When maximum cooling is achieved, turn back
the temperature control knob setting to the 2:00
o'clock position on the graduated blue control
dial.
• Correct cooling temperature is a key factor to
consider in storing and dispensing draught beer.
• Optimum temperature for serving draught beer is
between 34ºF ~ 38ºF.(1ºC ~ 3ºC)
• To maintain temperatures ranging between
34ºF ~ 38ºF.(1ºC ~ 3ºC) We recommend the
thermostat knob be positioned at the "2:00
o'clock" setting on the graduated blue control dial.
• To turn off the refrigerator, (no cooling) rotate the
control knob to the "0" position.
