Question about Freezers

1 Answer

Noticed frigidaire upright freezer wasn't cooling properly (all ice cream was melted). Noticed dried green puddle under freezer when we moved it out and some wetness(but the wetness was clear liquid, possibly water). Found solid ice along back bottom crevace inside of freezer. Currently defrosting and hoping that melting the ice will solve the problem as it appears that the ice may be blocking some sort of vent. Is this possible? Freezer sounded as though it had been running continually. Do you think that it could be a coolant leak? We did have a power outage recently do you think that the ice may have formed then or do you think that we have a bigger problem? Any suggestions?

Frigidaire Freezer Model FFU17C3AW1 door not sealing properly?

Good Afternoon Vonaspern,

I understand that you are having trouble with the door sealing properly on your Frigidaire freezer, model# FFU17C3AW1. I see that you have already checked to make sure there is nothing blocking the door from closing as well as making sure there was nothing between the door gasket and the freezer body. Next, I would check to make sure that the gasket is not damaged or compromised in any way. If it is not damaged, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose your freezer and determine what is causing your appliance to properly seal. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-
WP

HI Not sure if you have checked . BUT i would check to make sure the cooling fan is clear and not blocked. Dust and dirt and cat hair and dog hair can collect in and around the vents and and keep it from cooling properly. If it is the type of condenser that is on the back of unit then disregard.

My ice cream is melting and things have started to thaw

Turn the t'stat up to 9. You want to save the meat and ice cream. It sounds like you may be losing freon. Get it looked at soon so you won't come home and find meat soft and ice milk.

Freezer seems to be stuck in defrost mode

Sounds like the pat test fried the pcb. They use too high a voltage to test the appliance wiring and it doesn't do printed boards much good!

if the compressor is running, the fan beside the compressor and the fan in the freezer should both be running, dirty coils can cause a problem. frost buildup on back of freezer wall is indicative of defrost problem.
