Your remote needs to be readdressed to the receiver if you are not able to change channels or bring up any of the receiver menus. Have you already replaced the batteries with new batteries? I have provided a link with instructions on how to readdress the remote to your receiver. Select the type receiver you have, which will open a PDF document with the instructions on how to readdress the remote to the receiver. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you may need a new remote. To see if the problem is with your remote control, go to the receiver and use the channel up/down buttons on the receiver itself. If you can change your channels with the buttons on the receiver, the batteries in your remote control probably need to be changed.

If you can't change channels from the receiver, turn off the receiver. Then unplug it for at least 15 seconds. Plug the receiver back it and turn it on. Again, try changing channels from the receiver itself.

Tune to a channel, and while programming is playing, try tuning to the missing channel by entering the channel number on the remote control keypad to see if channels change. Do not try to select the channel from a channel list, program guide, or favorites list.

If this approach takes you to the correct channel, you need to adjust your favorites list function. Press the "guide" button on your remote. Look for a button on your remote called "fav" or "list." Press it several times and watch for an indication at the top of the guide that you are moving from "all channels" to a particular favorites list.

If you are locked on one channel only, your Channel Lock feature is likely active. Consult your owner's manual to unlock the rest of your channels. See your owner's manual for information on managing favorite channel lists and locking out channels. Enter your password, if necessary.

Remote won't workThe most common reasons the remote won't work is that the batteries are dead or it hasn't been programmed properly. It's often easy to fix. Here are the steps to take to troubleshoot the problem.
Make sure you have a clear path between the remote and the infrared eye on your equipment. Clear any dust or debris that may be covering the eye.

Try unlocking the battery-saving mode. When a button is pressed for longer than three minutes, the remote goes into battery-saving mode. Press the SAT mode button at the top to unlock it. Your remote should work properly.

Check the batteries. When you press a mode button, does it light up? If not, you may be out of juice. Check to make sure they are in the right way, with the metal ends making good connections with the metal in the remote. If they're in correctly and you still don't get power, try replacing them. Check to make sure the remote is programmed properly, which basically means you reprogram it to work with your receiver, TV and any other components. The channel guide only shows no information available most of the time

You are getting that message because the receiver is not updating the Electronic Program Guide (EPG). Try unplugging the receiver from your electrical outlet for about 10 seconds (make sure all lights on receiver go out) and plug back in. This will cause the receiver to reboot and re-acquire satellite signal. Allow it also to download the program guide. After you get your channel back, pull up your guide, go into the future to see if it updated.

If it did not update, you'll need to run a check switch test. Press Menu on your DISH remote; should have Main Menu on TV screen. Press 6 (System Setup), 1 (Installation), and 1(Point Dish). Highlight the CHECK SWITCH button on the upper right of the screen and press the Select button on remote. On the Installation Summary screen, highlight the TEST button at the bottom of screen and press the Select button on the remote. This will initiate the test. Allow the test to complete. Once completed, exit out of each screen till you get to Acquiring Satellite Signal on TV screen. After acquisition completion, allow it to download the program guide. If this doesn't fix the problem, you may need a new receiver. I hope this helps.

Need intructions how to program remote control on vip722k second receiver


Press and hold down the SETUP button located on the remote. Wait until the INDICATOR light turns on. It will blink once the button is pushed, however once you see the indicator light stay one, release the button. Click the button to the DEVICE you wish to program. If it is a TV, then click the TV button. If it is the cable box, then click CBL button. After doing so, the indicator should still stay on. Press the DOWN CHANNEL button several times until you see the RECEIVER yo wish to program respond. Example: If it is a TV, then you will notice the CHANNEL change once the remote locates the correct settings for that receiver. If you see the receiver respond and you are pushing the down channel button but nothing is working, it means you passed the internal settings of the remote to the receiver. Try pushing the CHANNEL UP button slowly. It may be able to relocate the the proper settings. Once you see the channel change again, press ENTER to program the remote. If this fails, retry the same steps. In some cases you may miss the correct internal settings.

Hi my nameis Mike Houston of DISH Network and I see when you try to change the channel itskips some. There are a couple of things you can check to make sure allchannels are showing. Please press the Menu button on the DISH Network remoteand on the top left it will say All and you want it to say All Channels, then youwill want to make sure all the channels in you're Programming Package arethere. If they still are not showing please unplug the receiver for 10 secondsand after plugging it back in it will power up and acquire the signal anddownload the Program Guide, you will then want to make sure all channels areshowing. My ViP 612 keeps changing the channel on me and deleting and recording things I don't want. It also keep skipping and rewinding shows. What does this mean?


Hi! I will be glad to assist you. Let try to isolate the problem 1st. your channel keeps on changing by itself with out touching the buttons on the remote. Okay, please go to the front panel of your receiver, open the fron t panel right door and push the sysinfo button, it will show the system information screen, check you remote address, ex 1 , lest change the remote address of your remote. how to: press and hold the sat button on the remote until all lights lit on the top, once it all lit, release it and press 9 on the remote, then press the pound button (#) that is under number 9, once you press the pound button, the sat button will flash 3 times then press the record button. you will see that the remote address is change from 1 to 9.. then select done on the screen. then it will go back to your tv show, check if the problem still exist.. if the the probelm still exist.. press the power button on the fron tpanel of the receiver for 10sec then release, after that the receiver will reboot by itsel and you will see attention 015, let the progress finish until it download the programming guide. once you got the tv show again check if the problem still doing , like changing the channels, deleteing the recording and skipping and rewinding.. if the problem still exist, pls call 1-800-333-3474 and talk to dish tech support, you have a dvr lost of function and the box needs to be replace. if you have any query pls get in touch..

Direct TV ''Program not available'' but should be


Define "Lost." if you manually tune to the channel, whats there. By manually tune I mean punch in the channel number on the remote itself instead of using the guide or channel up/down buttons.

If the channel is there but not on the guide, you have set a custom guide and would need to go into your guide setup to change it back to "All Channels."

If you do not have apicture on the missing channel, reply back with the channel number and the error message at the bottom of the screen.
