This problem is related to partial durty in the filter. you can't do that by your self. If you are a technician , :
1. recover the freon,
2. remove the filter;
3. replace by a new one;
4. vacuum the system;
5. charge the freon .

Whirlpool ET18JK Not cooling, fan runs, compressor kicks on, blows hot air?

Easy tests, put your hand on the compressor, if it is vibrating it is running. Touch the two lines coming out of the compressor, if they are both warm then the valves are shot on the compressor, if they are just regular temp then you have a refrigerant leak, if one is hot and the other is cool then you may have a blocked cap tube, which means a $600 fix. If the compressor isn't turning on I would check the thermostat for bat contacts. When you set it to low there should be a small ammo unit of resistance and if you turn it off the meter should say OL. Good luck

If the AC compressor is kicking in and out then you are probably low on freon. If the Compressor isn't kicking in at all then the problem could be a fuse or relay in the Power distribution box or the fuse in the interior of the car. If the fuse and relays are good then the problem could be a bad clutch on the compressor or a bad compressor itself. If the compressor is kicking in and out then get a freon refill can from Walmart or an Auto parts store and add freon to the system until the compressor kicks in continuously.

Compressor tries to kick on, but it humms for a few seconds and then kicks off.

this is a sign of a bad relay (starter) replacing the relay of the compressor might help if it does not help then you need anew compressor

Is your compressor kicking on? If not then check the contactor-relay and the capacitor. If that isn't the problem then it is probably your compressor. Which is quite expensive to replace.

Your fridge operates like that: a compressor liquefies freon vapours; this creates heat so the hot liquid goes thru a cooling radiator with a fan on it (these 2 elements are at the rear bottom of the fridge) the freon fluid goes to an evaporator, turns to vapour and absorbs heat in the process, cooling the evaporator; a fan blows air over the evaporator and spreads the cooled air all over the fridge; the vapours return to the compressor.
In the rear of the fridge you should make sure that the radiator is clean and the fan working; inside the fridge you should make sure that the evaporator is not covered in ice and/or dirt and its fan is working. If necessary clean both.
If they are clean , the fans work but the evaporator isn't cold then either the freon circuit has sprung a leak and all the fluid has been lost or the compressor isn't working - to find out which just put your hands on the compressor : if it's hot and vibrates the fluid has been lost, if it doesn't vibrates then the compressor isn't working.
The compressor isn't working because either the thermostat or itself have failed. To find out which the compressor will have to be powered directly from the mains: if it starts then the thermostat must be replaced, if it doesn't the compressor will.
To fix the freon circuit or to replace the compressor a certified professional is mandatory, you must call one.

Installed the fridge freezer over 24 hrs ago. But it's isn't getting cold. It's got power and set to the lowest temp. Please help

First determine if the compressor is kicking on and off. Normally you can get it to kick on by just changing the thermostat setting. If the compressor isn't kicking on then it could be the relay or the compressor.

NOTE: If you transported the unit in other than in a standing position, you should let it stand unplugged for several hours to let all the air bubbles to work themselves out.

A/c runs cool for about 20 minutes and then does not cool anymore. keeps running but does not cool.

Is the compressor still running or has it kicked out? The normal problem is that the unit is low on freon and the compressor is not cooling because of this. If the compressor is kicking off an feels hot to the touch but the inside coil is sweating when the compressor kicked off the compressor is going bad. On an outside chance the thermostat can be going out if you turn it to off or all the way down you should hear an audible click and again when you turn it up normally its good if the click is audible. good luck

Had to empty fridge and freezer when we got back from vacation. unit not cool sounds like it is trying to work but not getting cool

You possibly have a compressor out. If you hear the fan motor kicking in it is more than likely the compressor. There isn't really an easy way to test a compressor to see if its gone out. You can put your hand on it to see if you feel it coming on however, check the compressor first to make sure it isn' t hot by touching it quickly with your finger. Good Luck

Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan won't kick on

be aware that not repairing this asap that you are causing yourself more problems First I would change out the fan capacitor and see if this could be the problem. Secondly if the capacitor isn,t the problem change out the motor . By continuing to allow the system to cycle like this the compressor will take a dive on you costing more . Good Luck
