Use the power supply outside the computer

I have an NPS-200PB-73M power supply and would like to use it as a power supply for a bread board for testing circuits. How do I turn the power supply on without the motherboard?

Plug the power supply to desire voltage. Monetarily short the GRAY and BLACK wire in one second.

You also have to put a load across the yellow and black wires (12volt) of the 4 pin connectors. I put a 100 ohm power resistor across the 12 volt pins and the power supply turns on. Just jumpering the gray and black wire is not enough.

Dell power supplies use their own proprietary wiring system. Normal atx supply use the green and black jumpered to run the power supply outside of the case. With Dell you have to jumper the gray and black wires on the 20 pin connector and then put a load such as a resistor or 12 volt car light bulb across the 12 volt yellow and black of any 4 pin connector.

check the twisted paired wires that are found inside your system unit..usually it has a color red, green, blue and white wires..check your motherboard wire pins usually located at the sides of the board or near the BIOS chip. IF you can see those wires, try reseat those wires( but make sure you have an assistance of a qualified technician to avoid wrong connections and to fry your motherboard).

Goodluck!!
