Question about Apple MacBook 13"White /2.0Ghz Intel Core2 Duo White/2GB (2x1gb)/80GB/SuperDrive (Z0DT) Mac Notebook

Downloaded software updates, computer won't start up now

The other day I downloaded some software updates via the automatic notifier. Now, when I power it up, I get the Apple symbol on the gray screen, with the rotating clock, but it just shows that screen for about 2 minutes and shuts down.

My hard drive is partitioned and I'm still able to start up using windows (bootcamp) but the OS X side won't work. I've tried pulling the battery, disconnecting AC power, holding the power button 5 sec, etc. Nothing seems to work. Very frustrating since I just updated Apple software and now my Apple computer won't work. It's a 4 month old MacBook. Thanks in advance.

I read my manual and it states that I had 90 days of warranty. Is that correct? I'll try 1800sosappl tomorrow. Thanks for the reply!

If your MacBook is only four months old, it is under warranty. You can call Apple at 1-800-SOS-APPL and explain your problem, and they will walk you through a solution for free.

You have 90 days of free call-in assistance, and one year parts and labor warranty. However, since your problem is of the form "your software update broke my machine" and not "how do I do so-and-so," it should be a free call for the first year. Another alternative is to make an appointment with an Apple Genius at at Apple Store, which I believe is always free.

My xperia x8 won't start up

Hello,

the problem is as a result of software corruption. Your phone operating system is corrupt for one reason or the other. The phone operating system might have gotten virus through bluetooth transfer, internet browsing or via the memory card.

To solve the problem, you need to flash the phone . Flashing the phone means reinstalling the phones operating system software files. The phone will be fully formatted and a fresh operating system files will be reinstalled.

You can use software updater to flash the phone. Download software updater from sonyerricon.com. Install it on your computer, open the software updater, connect the phone via usb cable to your computer. Allow the computer to recognize the phone, then click update. Follow all direction from the software updater application. And your computer must be connected to the internet.

I hope you understand this.

How to disable automatic updates on XP windows?

To turn on Automatic Updates yourself, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then press ENTER.
  2. Click the Automatic Updates tab, and then click to select one of the following options. We recommend that you select the Automatic (recommended) Automatically download recommended updates for my computer and install them option.
    • Automatic (recommended) Automatically download recommended updates for my computer and install them

If you select this option, Windows recognizes when you are online and uses your Internet connection to find updates on the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site that apply to your computer. Updates are downloaded automatically in the background, and you are not notified or interrupted during this process. An icon appears in the notification area of your taskbar when the updates are being downloaded. You can point to the icon to view the download status. When the download is complete, you receive another message in the notification area so that you can review the updates that are scheduled for installation.
      • Click to select the day and time for scheduled updates to download and install. You can schedule Automatic Updates for any time of day. However, your computer must be on at the scheduled time for updates to be installed.
      • You can choose to install the updates as soon as they are finished downloading. To do this, click the download message (or update icon), and then click Install. If you choose not to install the updates when they finish downloading, Windows starts the installation on your set schedule.
    • Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them

If you select this option, Windows recognizes when you are online and uses your Internet connection to automatically download updates from the Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site. An icon appears in the notification area of your taskbar when the updates are being downloaded. You can point to the icon to view the download status. When the download is complete, you receive another message in the notification area so that you can review the updates that are scheduled for installation.
      • When you want to install the downloaded update, click the message (or update icon), and then click Install to install the update.
      • If you do not want to install a downloaded update, click Details, and then click to clear the check box next to that update to decline it.
    • Notify me but don't automatically download or install them

If you select this option, Windows recognizes when you are online and uses your Internet connection to search for downloads from the Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site. An Automatic Updates icon and message appear in the notification area of your taskbar when new updates are available to download or to install.
      • Click the icon or message to view the updates. If you do not want to download a selected update, click to clear the check box next to that update to decline it. Click Start Download to download the selected updates. The Automatic Updates icon remains in the notification area of your taskbar while the updates are being downloaded. You can point to the icon to view the download status.
      • When the download is complete, you receive another message in the notification area stating that the updates are ready to install. Click the Automatic Updates icon or the message, and then click Install to install the updates.
  3. Click OK.
