Looking to buy this camera off of ebay and this a camera that has been reported as "good for parts", in the description the only thing wrong with it is this "ERROR CF". The camera turns on and the body is in good working condition. What do you think?

Err CF (CF error) displayed on the lcd panel indicates a problem with the cf card that prevents images from being recorded or read .Use another CF card instead or if you have a commercial available CF card reader that can read the CF card use it to transfer all the images in the card to a personal computer from format the CF card it may then return to normal

It meansError Compact Flash. Change your CF memory card. Or try to format it on your PC or if your camera has format option use it. You must be having pic on it, so insert it in your PC and try to copy the files to your PC and then format it. After that it shud work in the camera.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Camera reports that this error code may appear on your digital camera’s LCD (liquid-crystal display) when there is an error reading from or writing to the inserted CF (Compact Flash) card. This error code occurs most often after a user has tried to eject a CF card before the camera has finished writing data to the card.

Canon suggests that you first try to use a different CF card. If you do not see the error message when you use the new CF card, the first card is probably damaged.

Before you take the next step, drag the files from the CF card to a location on your hard drive to back up the files. Next, you can use Windows’ ScanDisk utility to check the CF card for errors. If you use a Mac, you can use Disk Utility (in Applications\Utilities\) in OS X.

If ScanDisk or Disk Utility fails to resolve the CF card problem, insert the CF card in your camera again. Then format the CF card. You can do this by pressing the Menu button, selecting the Format tab, highlighting Format, selecting Format, and choosing Yes. Make sure you have backed up the data on the card before you do this. Formatting the card will delete the images from the card. After you format the card in your camera, use ScanDisk or Disk Utility to check the CF card again. If you still encounter errors while using ScanDisk or Disk Utility, you should discard the CF card because it is damaged. Try using another card or a card reader to check if the card is still readable by the computer.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Err cf

Try formatting the CF card in your computer and if it can be done successfully, return to the camera and try to format it in the camera. If not, then the card is bad or it is too large for the camera to read. Some older cameras have limits to the sizes of cards they can read.

Err CF I have a Canon Rebel XT, how do i fix this error and what does it mean?

CF stands for compact flash which means you have an error with your memory card. Try removing and replacing your compact flash memory card. If that doesn't work you may need to format your memory card or replace it.

Error message reading Err CF

Be careful. I had the same problem, and for me it was a corrupt CF card.
Try reading the card on a card reader with your computer. If it can't read it, you'll need to replace it. Otherwise you could lose future photos.
I hope this helps!

My camera canon eos rebel xt has an error code cf what does that mean ??? my camera doesn't since that code appeard.

CF probably relates to the Compact Flash memory card. It may be time for a new one. They're very inexpensive and a replacement would be the first step to discovering the problem.

Camera will not turn on

Try changing batteries is the first thing you should try, the memory card isn't really important if your Eos isn't working.

If your Eos works, try looking on the lcd screen. It should give you an error code. Go to canon's website into the camera section and look up the code.

If that doesn't fix the problem, if you are still under warranty, I would suggest you to contact Canon for fixing it. If your under warranty, it should be free. If your not under it, you might need to pay.

Canon Rebel xt does not accept CF cards for no apparent reason

It sounds like a bent pin in the CF slot. This is not a do it yourself fix. Take it to a repair shop.

Rebel XT won't read my CF card

The card needs to be formated by the camera itself. It should be an option in the menu somewhere. Wish I could be more specific but I dont have a rebel. Remember though formatting erases pictures pictures so if you have anything on the card you will want to get that stuff saved before formatting.

CF Card is not being read, Canon Digital 350D EOS Problem

It does not sound good. You might want to get a flashlight or similar and look into the memory card slot to check the connector pins in the camera. They may be bent or damaged.
