It totally depend on your needs. If your processing needs are higher you can upgrade the processor, otherwise upgrading the RAM and hard disk will do.

Upgrading your system is a better idea than buying a new one.

Upgrading vs. New PC?

I took a look at the specs for your Desktop PC... It's far outdated, so I wouldn't hesitate to replace it.
I just happen to be a bit of an expert in this field, and I'd advise you to avoid buying from a retail manufacturer (which is nothing more than rebranded hardware). If you're interested, I do have a service on here to provide help getting you the perfect Desktop PC (or even Notebook/Laptop if you'd rather go that route). My fee is cheap, and I'll surely save you more than that. Either way, no matter what you decide, be sure to research anything you buy before you do. Let me know your budget and we can go from there, if you're interested. But to answer your question, again... Yes, it's in your best interest to replace the system. (Your motherboard only supports up to 256 mb of ram, and that is older form factor, plus it won't even come close to the system requirements to run any modern Operating system.)

I hope this clears it all up for you. Have a great day, and let me know if I can help any further.
Please remember to rate me, Thank You.

What is the difference between PC and laptops?

Good question!

PC (Desktop Computers) vs. Laptop Computers
>By the name itself, desktop computers are not as portable as a laptop.
>Upgrade of it's components is way easier than that of a laptop.
>Upgrading desktop computers is unlimited laptops have limitations.
>Software installation wise, both can handle almost the same load.
>Desktop occupies bigger space than laptops.
>Cost efficiency, $300 worth of a regular laptop is equivalent to a high-performance desktop machine

So far those are the major differences between a PC (Desktop Computer) and a laptop computer.

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to try and upgrade my Inspiron 710m to the specs I need to run a MIDI instrument/music software bundle. The needed specs are: 512 MB RAM; CPU 2 GHz (Multiple cores...

I recommend buying a new one instead of upgrading individual parts.
Changing the processor can get too expensive and risky for a laptop unless you do it yourself and know what you are doing. Changing both the processor and the motherboard is pretty much buying a new one.
Looking up the specs of Inspiron 710, it looks like you're going to have to upgrade both.

Insignia lcd ns-ltdvd26 will not power on... Is their a fuse I can replace ?

unfortunately no. While there are fuses you have to take the tv apart to get at them and that probably would not fix what caused the fuse to blow.

From your description the problem will be something in the power supply. This can be simple/cheap or expensive/not worth fixing. You want to check to see if you have any warranty either em or extended store. Then you need to talk to Insignia or the store you bought it from and find out where/who can fix it. You also want to do a bit of window shopping and find out what a replacement tv is worth. When you know that then you can get an estimate for repairs from the repair depot. If the cost gets too high then just buy a new tv. While this type of problem is repairable it isn;t always worth doing. If the shop just replaces boards instead of doing board repairs then the repair could even cost more than the new tv does.

Regardless of brand this is a common problem on tv's., that is if the repair is cost effective to do or if its is cheaper to get a new one. As long as you know the replacement cost its easier to know when to repair or replace.

Can't find hard drive

This can be from a new drive being installed and it not being formated or setup. Usually it is detected.

Unfortunetly this also can mean your hard drive or the controller has failed. You can purchase a new drive for under $100. I have put a 320gb drive in these so if you want to spend a bit more you should be able to go bigger and upgrade a little bit.

If it is the controller then the mainboard needs to be replaced. At this point unless you can get it repaired under warrenty you need to look at what a new replacement laptop is worth. The repair cost parts and labor can add up to be almost the same price as a new one.

I need to change the motherboard on my laptop from 32 bit to 64 bit and dual core stuff. Can anyone advise me how to seperate the laptop to access the working parts.

Last time I looked into that kind of thing, the parts for laptops were not general and the motherboard alone cost almost what a new computer cost. Check the prices at Sam's Club, Costco, Newegg and TigerDirect for new computers and price parts for an upgrade before opening anything. If the one you have now still works, sell it and buy what you need.

Power adapter loose - worth fixing?

FIrst of all, amyone charging $30 for a replacement jack is ripping you off. These parts are available for less than $2 each and are common parts. Unless the jack has been damaged, it shouldn't need to be replaced. I repair this type of problem all the time, and usually it takes longer to get to the jack than it does to repair it. A reasonable charge for this would be $80-$120 for labor (this process takes over an hour easy) and a few bucks for parts. Where are you located?

Can I do to update AMD K6-2/400 ACK processor from my toshiba 2105CDS by best one, wich?

I don't believe you can with that notebook. Replacing processors in laptops can be a bit tricky anyway and should only be done by a technician. The cost of doing this though may not be worth it since for the price you would pay for the new processor you could upgrade a couple models up.
