Connection problem

you need to connect the wirless router directly to the internet line and configure it. note that some isp do not support such devices being used as a modem. after connecting the main line to the router open a browser and enter 192.168.1.1 as the address. enter admin as the username and the password. if it does not work ask your isp for the unsername and password.
configuration will have to be done including assinging and ip address to the router. A technician for your isp (internet service provider) should be able to help you in the configuration or a technician.........will love to but i do not reside in your country and do not know much about your place. with all that said Remember that without the configuration process it will not connect as you said.
Let me know of the outcome.
good luck

How to Configure Belkin routers for Centurylink, Embarq, Bell sympatico, Bell...

How to Configure Belkin routers without installation CD for Centurylink, Embarq, Bell sympatico, Bell Canada ISPs ?
Configuring Belkin routers without installation CD for Centurylink, Embarq, Bell sympatico, Bell Canada ISPs :
  • Connect the Computer to the Router in one of the 4 ports named wired (usually grey in color) using an Ethernet cable.
  • Do not connect the modem to the router.
  • Open internet explorer / Firefox / chrome or any of your default web browser.
  • In the address bar type the default gateway address of Belkin router i.e., 192.168.2.1
  • Belkin router setup page (RSP) will be displayed.
f7dd033.jpg
Wired Part Configuration:
We need to configure the wired part by following these steps.
Step 1: You need to LOGIN to the router for making any changes. (No login password, just leave it blank and click SUBMIT)
Step 2: Click on LAN settings (found on left side of RSP), change the IP address from 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.40.1 and save changes.
Step 3: Now Connect the DSL Modem to Router in the port named Modem (usually yellow in color) using another Ethernet cable.
***Once you are done that, you need to re-login to RSP by typing the new IP address 192.168.40.1 in the address bar of web browser.

Step 4: Check for the internet status at the top right hand corner of RSP. If it is connected then the wired part is working perfect with the router (wired computers will go online). Need not follow the steps below, directly jump to wireless part configuration.
Step 5: If the Internet Status is not connected then, click on CONNECTION TYPE (found on left side of RSP), it has to be selected as DYNAMIC and click next. It will ask for HOST NAME, leave it blank or you can type anything there and click on APPLY CHANGES.
Step 6: Now check for the internet status at the top right hand corner of belkin RSP. If it says connected then everything for the wired part is configured perfectly. You can go ahead and configure for the wireless part.
If it is not connected then we need to do a network power cycle.

Steps to be followed for performing Network power cycle:
  • Unplug the power cable of both your modem and router.
  • Wait for 30 seconds.
  • Plug back the power cable of the modem and wait until all the lights are lit up in it.
  • Now plug back the power cable to the router and check for the lights in the router.
Modem & Internet lights will be lit and they will be solid (blue/green) in the router; it says that the Internet status is connected. Now you will be able to go online in the wired computers.

If still Modem & Internet lights are not solid in the router; it may be blinking in red/ amber it says that the Internet status is not connected. You will not be able to go online in the wired computers.

In this case you need to connect your computer directly to the modem and check whether you are able to go online. If you are not able to go online, then you need to contact your ISP and fix your issue with internet.

The above method is applicable only for Embarq, century link, Bell Sympatico, Bell Canada ISPs. Because these ISPs will have the IP address same as Belkin routers....

If nothing works then you need to contact your ISP and ask them to bridge the modem...Bridging the modem disables NAT in the modem and allows you to get a public IP in the modem.

As soon as i plug in my d link wireless router into my laptop i loose my internet conection why is this

The router should be configured manually if it didn't work atuomatically. If you are on DSL ISP, configure the router on PPPoE connection type. If you are Cable ISP, configure the router for MAC Cloning. You can read the manual on how to do PPPoE or MAC Cloning.

I have a used 802.11g/2.4Ghz wirless router and i dont know how to use it cause i dont have a cd or directions it was used by my cousin like 3 years ago i would like to use it please help. I have a cable...

First you have to re-configure the Router according to your Internet connection (ISP setting). Any software disk is not required to configure the Router. Just login to your Router and configure.

To login to your Router just use the IP 192.168.0.1 (type in Web Browser) to get in.

The default Username is "admin" and there may be no password or the default password may be the 'password'.

Now input the details like your ISP username, password, IP address etc. to configure the Router.

You may also refer the User Guide of the Router to configure it.

Better do a Google Image search for for information:

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi,
After connecting your router hardwired.. do the ipconfig in the command prompt window... make a note of your default gateway...It should be as 192.168.1.xxx Enter this no... in the address bar in Internet Explorer... Access the Modem... Try to configure it with the username and the password provided from your ISP, eg bell, verizon, primus etc..
this is the manual installation of your wireless router.. make sure that the modem is in the bridged mode or DHCP mode...

Dear Friend,

1. Connect your ISP modem to your PC and configure as Bridge mode.

2. Remove your ISP modem and connect your wireless router to your PC and configure as PPPOE mode. (refer http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/reviews/article.php/3645166 if any doubt on configuration)

3. Now connect your ISP modem to wireless router, The modem should connect to your WAN cable.

4. And Give the wireless router's IP in your laptop as Gateway (In TCPIP settings of your Laptop wireless adapter / or configure DHCP)

5. Now you can access internet on both systems.

Draytek Vigor 2600we

I do not have one of these devices however from the specs it is a combination DSL modem / Router that supports both wired connections to 4 ethernet ports as well as wireless connections. This device has configuration options that apply to the ISP side as well as the wireless side that could be causing issues. Lets try eliminating the wireless issues first. Do you have a computer with an ethernet port for a wired connection. If so attempt to connect to the internet using a wire to the ports on the wireless router. If this works we are assured the ISP connections and configuration are correct. If not I would suggest working with your ISP to get this working first. If this does work the next step will be to review the wireless configuration. If you got this new or from your ISP these settings may be known. However if you bought this used we may have some discovery to make this work. However we can address that after we determine the solution to the above issues.
