Frost free means that the evaporator coil will not accumulate a thick layer of frost. It will not prevent frost from accumulating on the walls of the freezer. To slow down the amount of frost build up inside the freezer, do not keep the freezer door open for any longer than necessary. The freezer door seal may be defective. This would allow moisture in that would freeze on the inside walls. A heater with timed intervals to come on is one way for a frost free feature. But this will not work for frost build up on the inside walls of the freezer. It would only melt the frost and then it would refreeze again.
yes you bet they do, at least modern day "frost free" firdges do. As the saying goes though, "out of site out of mind". Not to worry, this is the way the fridge keeps from frost/ice building up on the evaporator. It defrost's by way of a heater which does heat to a point to melt the frost, be it only briefly though ( usually 10-20 min. depending on the frost accumulated and the bi-metal thermostat tolerance...the part which insures it shut's off ). Anyway, I hope that re-assure's you this is normal and perfectly fine. If you however, think you want a pro to come and look at it, than that is what you should do.

There are several reasons this can be happening...
1. The seal on the door may have a tear or may not be seating properly...this allows excess warm air into the freezer compartment and in its effort to remove the same ...frost appears.
2. There is something call a thermistor that is cycled on and off as needed to remove excess frost accumulation and or ice buildup on the evaporator (freezer) coils...it is a heat strip which actually defrost the frost/ice. if this is not working frost will accumulate and eventually it will become Ice......now the remarkable thing about Ice accumulation is that you would think everything would remain cold or get colder ..however in this case the opposite occurs...it insulates the coils and thereby increasing the temperature...put a thermometer...one that is calibrated properly...(calibration can be set by placing a thermometer into a glass of ice water...the temp of a glass of ice water..after a few minutes setting will be exactly 32 degrees)..if the temperature of your refrigerator is gradually rising over the period of a week...you will need to call a tech or replace the thermistor and or trouble shoot other problems that can occur such as..
3. The evaporator fan may be going out although they usually make a high pitched whining noise of a whirring noise before they go out...not always and if they are intermittently cycling off then frost would build up...do you always here a fan running when you open the freezer...if so that is good...fan is working...but it may be cycling off at times when no one is aware. P.S. the odds of your ice maker causing this are very, very slim...in 35 years in the industry ..I have never had an ice maker cause frost due to water spray...it will almost always result solid sheets of Ice..if it evers does cause a spray....which like I said is rare...lottery ticket type rare :-)

the frost on the back wall tells me its not defrosting.this will happen 2 to 3 times a day.if defrost system working their would not be frost.hencethe term frostless.to con firm this sence you defrosted this unit it should work in all ways for a day or 2 lets stop here and you let me know what happens
check the dispensing flapper ,, it may not be shuting there is a spring and lever it the lever is bend or if the spring is broken it will not close correctly clean and clear all the ice .. then check that it will close after you open it...hope it helps
Most dehumidifiers have a "Frost Guard" mounted on the condensor coil. If frost accumulates on the condensor coil the frost guard turns the compressor off until the frost melts, then comes back on again. For the dehumidifier to work properly, the surrounding (ambient), temperature must be higher than 65 degress. This temperature allows the moisture in the air to condense on the coils and drip into the reservoir without freezing up on the condensor coil. Also, if the humidity is too low, (below 45%), the same condition will occur. So it will help to keep the parameters in mind when you have this issue.
