I have a Apple G5 and a WD Passport 500Gb. I try to mount this external HD with the firewire cables. Both cables don't work. Ik can mount the disk with USB, but this is not so fast. I already tried the newest software drivers, but this doesn't help. So mounting through firewire is the problem. What can I do about it?
You need to determine whether the problem is at the disk interface or at the computer interface. Will the drive mount on ANOTHER machine using FireWire? Will your computer mount ANOTHER device using FireWire? This will tell you which machine is at fault. It's not unheard of for the FireWire channels in a Mac to just go bad, and (unless it is a Mac Pro) it typically requires a logic board replacement to address. For a G5, this would not be cost-effective. On the other hand, as I say, it could just be a bad interface in the drive itself. It's up to you to determine which it is.

I have an iMac OS 10.5.8 and a trying to download Times Reader 2.0 which uses Adobe Air. I keep getting a message there is a problem downloading Adobe Air. I checked system requirements, and it only lists 10.4.11 10.5.4 10.5.5 and 10.6 as compatible. Does this mean it won't work with 10.5.8 and why not?I've tried downloading Air from Adobe's website directly but that doesn't work either.

When downloading video the download just stops. I try to reload the video and it freezes at the same point. It doesn't seem to matter where the video is from CNN, Cnet or even a mac web site. It plays for say 30 seconds then stops.

Hello, I get a grey screen on startup. I can hear the drive loading and if I hook up an external monitor I see the desktop. Is this a hardware problem? I had to change the pram battery, it was dead and I notice that the system thinks its 1999.
