Fan works but no light

Well i have a hampton bay fan with remote. the fan works for all 3 speeds with remote but when you push the light bulb button for the light nothing happens. it worked just fine for about 6 months and now nothing. i removed the glass over where the light bulb goes to check for black marks or charing. i see no evidence of any faulty wiring or faulty parts. i know the remote has 4 white buttons under the battery but not sure if that would effect the light or not. any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Fan works but no light

The problem is with the controller in the fan. The controller will effect the fan light and/ or effect the fan speed, both will not respond to the remote. So, here's the resolution, contact the "King of Fans" who has the contract for Hampton Bay. The number is 800.749.3267 to order a new controller for about 43.00. Hope this helps.

Re: Fan works but no light

Your receiver is shot and must be replaced. This is a small black or grey box two inches by four located under the cieling mount cover.

Bottom light will not go on. I have changed the bulbs, top light and fan work with the remote.

Probably a bad pull-switch. These are available at Home Depot and probably Lowe's. Turn off the breaker before replacing it.

Hampton bay ceiling fan stopped lights work

you can test the light switch by temporarily hooking up the light bulb to where the fan normally goes ....the bulb will only work on the highest speed setting but can prove if the switch is bad or not . turn power off before woking in there ... if you know someone with a volt meter then they could quickly test the switch for you .. they can also test the motor for continuity .. .. most of the time the trouble is simply bad connections inside the wire nuts ... like insulation not skinned properly or wire not in the wire nut properly can remove and inspect each connection (power off of course) ... sometimes there is a seperate power line for the fan and light ... so they can be independently controlled externally ... thats not needed when the pull chains are the only off on method ...

Hampton bay fan, wall mount remote control

Hello burrow31. There maybe a switch located on the fan stating 'remote/manual'. Check your manual. Remove the battiers in your remote and short out the battery contact terminals. Reinstall the battiers, start the fan and after fan has reached set speed press & hold fan speed button for one second. Still no speed change contact the Mgfr. with model & serial #.

Windworld III has mind of its own -- light comes on any time it likes fan changes speed

This sounds like one of the most common problems with Hampton Bay's remote-contolled fans...either the transmitter (remote control) or the receiver (mounted in the fan, typically inside the ceiling canopy) has gone haywire. A circuit has blown or something is short-circuited, and it has a mind of it's own. The only fix is to replace the receiver and transmitter, which are relatively cheap and sold as a pair at your local Home Depot and Lowes.

Hope that helps! If you ave any other questions, feel free to ask!

Hampton Bay 54 In. 5-Blade with remote control at wall.

1. Set the remote to run the fan on high.
2. Pull the fan speed chain until the fan reaches high speed.
3. All speeds should work normally now.
The remote is modulating the maximum speed as set by the pull chain.

Ceiling fan does not reverse with remote

Just reporting that I called Hampton Bay about the remote not working to reverse the fan. I was told that I needed to have the fan running on low and then press reverse on the remote control. If that doesn't work, customer service told me to press reverse while running the fan on medium. (Some fans are set to reverse on low and others on medium.) Nowhere in the manual is this addressed. I had been pressing reverse with the fan turned off, which seemed to me a logical thing to do. Live and learn.
