If the Sony remote control have set-up codes to Memorex DVD player, you can set it up.
Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the site linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Pull up older posts. http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/ http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/
The codes to control a Memorex dvd player are 221, 223, 225, 226, 227. They fall under the manufacturer name Tevion.
To program your remote follow these steps:
Turn on your DVD.
Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button for at least 3 seconds until the red LED lights up and stays lit.
Press the DVD button on the remote so that the LED blinks once and then remains solid red.
Enter the first set of 3-digit codes from the list.
The LED will blink once every keypress. After the 3rd digit, the red
LED will turn off indicating that the code was recognized for the
device. If the code was not compatible, the LED will flash several
times and you need to return to step 2 to try that code again or to try
the next code in the list.
After the LED has turned off, aim the remote at the DVD and press ON/OFF. If the device turns off, you have used the correct
code and the remote was successfully programed. If the device does not
power off, return to step 2 and try again with the next code in the
The original instructions do not list Memorex as a maker of DVD players.
One forum says it might be DVD 0695, 0831, or 1270, but does not say if that was before or after a code upgrade from One For All.
Search for URC-9910 to find a complete instruction manual.
Also try "SEARCHING FOR YOUR CODE", although tedious, it may work:
