Question about Mitsubishi WS-55511 55" Rear Projection Television
We had the local power company cut the power for 2 hours. The TV was on when they cut the power but we have a surge protector on the power input. The green light flashes for about 30 seconds then goes out and when you press either the remote or the TV power on button it still does not come on. I have tried several times the reset button and still nothing. I have disconnected the control panel wiring and still the green light comes on but the remote will not switch the TV on. Anyone got some suggestions for this problem. I have not replaced the fuses (not sure where they are located to be honest) but I don't think this is the problem as there was a surge protector on the unit and all the other electronic items on the surge protector are fine. We have had a friends little girl round and she loves to touch the TV and the buttons so I thought maybe a button was stuck but disconnecting the 9 wires on the connector from the control panel that goes inside should have sorted this problem out. I love the TV but it is frustrating that it does not work. Please somebody help me!!!!!
Know problem of bad caps.
Picture of bad caps
The DM board is the one with the digital connectors on the back panel. If you already have it appart, you may as well check the caps on all of the boards. The caps that go bad are typically Jamicon brand caps in 1000 uF and 330 uF values. There are also a couple of 3300 uF caps in the PS that cause problems.
