Thank you very much bear001 for trying to fix the problem for me, but I have tried what you suggested, and it still won't work.

I would appreciate it very much if you could perhaps come up with another solution I could try.

    Thanks again,

Hello bear001. Thank you again for trying to help me, I appreciate it. I understand that you can't respond immediately because, since you are so busy.

I did get the recorder menu showing on the TV and changed the source to Line 1. I checked and the jacks are as follows: the combo jacks are in outputs DVD/VCR and the recorder jacks are in the input jacks Line 1.

Both units are set on channel 3. Unfortunately nothing seems to work when I try to record on the combo VCR.

When the combo is on the VCR mode and recorder is on Line 1, I just get a blue screen with the channel number on it.

On the combo, I can play a DVD, and a VCR, but just can't record on the VCR. On the recorder, everything seems to work fine.

Sorry this is causing so many problems for you.

Thanks for taking the time to try to help me with this.

    Happy Holidays

You may have to push the channel buttons on the source and check the video unit until you see whats playing on the main unit once you have a picture comming thru you should be able to record. if not let me know we can figure out some other solutions to get you up and recording.

Hello sorry that didn''t work for you and I have not got back to you yet but its been busy here, So I am back to try something else. Now when you plug everything in like you did, Is there a menu on the recorder you can pull up and look at on your TV screen, If so When you do Look into the source and try to change it to line one and see if that works and make sure both units are on the same channel on back of both combo and recorder make sure that there both on the same number. also make sure that the RCA jacks are in outputs from the combo, and into the inputs on the recorder, and then from there you would go from the outputs from recorder to TV input. Try that and see if it works I will try to get back sooner if that don't work for you Happy Holidays

Hello again Hey its no problem I like doing this kinda stuff, It sure sounds like you are in the right area. When you say you can see the blue screen, Now when you get to this spot try to change the channel buttons on the source and see if you get a picture to come in maybe your on line two. The blue srceen is a good thing it means that your getting a signal from the recorder. Oh Yeah I just wanted to make sure I got this right. Ok here we go LOL No.1 The Dvd/video player has only outputs in the back, No.2 Then outputs from the back are going to the INPUTs on the DVD/VIDEO Recorder.No.3 Then the outputs From the Recorder are going to the Inputs On the Back of the Television. Is that the way It is hooked Up?
. It should be like that, Then If you get A blue screen try to have a disc in the player turn both units on and tv, make sure Television is on the right channel. Now you should only have to adjust the Recorder if you don't see the picture on you TV set, There should be some source buttons on the recorder, You should try to push either the source buttons or channel buttons what ever buttons you have on the Recorder. then Change the Line In from Line 1 To Line 2 or maybe even 3 or AUX. Try that First and lets hope that Works :) . Now if that still don't work, Can you watch and see any videos in the recorder at all, DVD or video either it don't matter just as long as one works and you can see it on your TV set with just the Recorder. I sure Hope This Helps you If not I am not sure what else to do it would be easier if we could talk so we could hear each other and trouble shoot, So if this don't work Maybe we can chat on Yahoo I have a Account there under the name bear350cid at there is a voice chat available there so it may be a little easier doing it live for free LOL I sure hope this gets you up and running, Oh yeah don't worry I love to help people with electronic problems, Happy Holidays Again, bear

I recently installed a Comcast digital adapter to my SONY RDR-VX515 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo and then onto the TV. Now, when I try to program the VCR to record, the only channel options are Ch 4, Line 1 and...

Hi and welcome to FixYa

Initially, postback the model number of the Comcast digital adapter and the TV.

Offhand, if the Comcast digital adapter is connected to the Sony through a coaxial patchcord, then the Sony would really have to be set to Ch 4 (or 3). Channel selection is done on the Comcast digital adapter. It is not possible to record one channel while viewing another.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

Hook-up strategy

OK I will try to explain this...You need to go from your OUT TO TV output on your cable box and split that line so you have 2 lines coming out, then you can hook one to your vcr and one directly to your tv.Then you can watch tv while you are recording something on your VCR.I hope this helps
