Dishwasher does not stop

I was stupid and put washing up liquid into our dishwasher (hotpoint first edition DE 53) and now the cycle does not finish. this machine does not have a function to reset or stop the cycle or to drain. i tried to remove all water and bubbles, i tried some tips like salt and vinegar, but it still seems to go on washing... also the sound seems to be slightly different

I rubbed the smallest amount of fairy liquid into burnt grease at the bottom of the grill pan and left it overnight. In morning I slightly ran the pan under the tap, loaded dishwasher (Hotpoint BF41)- switched on and went to work. When I came home machine still running -rinsing and loads of foam and not discharging properly. After a few days and different measures (gained from your website) got rid of foam but when switched on -water still doesn't heat up, and machine doesn't stop rinsing, Repair man says he'd seen it before -new timer required, new heating element etc. Can you tell me -how does a small amount of soap liquid bring about such calamity?

Hi guys,
my dishwasher is working again. After i tried everything suggested oil, ... and draining all the water, it still didnt work but there is a switch somewhere at the back or side of dishwasher that resets everything and after pressing that it worked again fine, THANK GOD and still works fine after few months good Luck

By th way as far as i know it happens because the bubbles from the ashing up liquid are in the pipes and the water level sensor cant sense the watr level or something like that.

Thanks to all
