I have a Dell Vostro 1510, my Sony Optiarc DVD does not read

CD drive not reading CD

check whether you are able to boot fom operating system cd/dvd,
if you are able to boot fom OS cd/dvd, there is no hardware issue,
if unable to boot = Replace optical drive

then software troubleshooting
Install firmware upgrade for optical drive fom suppot.dell.com
reinstall Operating system.

It's time to replace that cd drive. Trying to repair a cd/dvd drive that is bad would cost more than getting a new one.

update the firmware and or update your dvd drivers

buy new dvd rw cd rom

Try to play the cd that you have wrote with other machine if it was able to read with other machine then your dvd is faulty.

If it cannot play with other machine, then there is a problem with the software that you use in cd writing or the dvd rom drive. Try to re-install both drivers, then play a cds.

install original driver and install original and compatible software.

If you did all this troubleshooting steps you have mentioned, I already expected your dvd rom drive is faulty and need to be replace.

Just install Nero 7.0 application and try to write the CD/DVD , It should work.
