Question about Dell Inspiron 2200 Notebook
I currently have 3 operating systems on my 2nd laptop and was wondering how to and if i should bother deleting the other 2...i have windows xp, which is the one i want to keep, windows 2000 professional and windows 2000 home edition. should i delete the 2 windows 2000 copies i have or do i need them to run windows xp? also how do i delete them? thanks for your time
Hopefully your other OS's are on a different drive letter (d: or e: for example). As long as they are then there is no conflict with XP.
You could effectively remove access to them by editing c:\BOOT.INI . Note that you will have to right click boot.ini, select "properties" and remove the "read only" and "hidden" properties for the file before editing it. I would recommend making a copy of the boot.ini first for a backup.
Then just open it with notepad. There will be one line for each OS in there. just delete the extra lines. Then you can just erase or format the partitions for the other OS's.
