I had the same problem, been looking for a fix for it for ages, and finaly i can say i found one. it worked for mine but cant be 100% sure it will for you but you can try it and if it does not work all you will get is a new game.

i managed to get a copy of the new SONIC AND SEGA ALL STARS RACING. when i put it in the wii it asked me to update.
i did this and i can know access my settings and everything where as before i could not.

Re: wii settings

Well, This is not a solution but, We just can't belive that Nintendo just the Wii Setting into a HTML page... Why would they do that? Ok Here is the solution for ya:

This solution only works for people have internet on their Wiis, no worries guys, I'll give you the offline solution after this...

1st You need Homebrew Channel, Sd Card (1 GB is fine) and internet connection

if you don't have, go to and search there "Homebrew Channel"

2nd go to Google on your computer and search for 4.0 Update for Wii in Homebrew, Click any page that has it, download it and put it on your SD Card.
On your SD Card create a folder named "apps" and put there the Update (if the update is a "boot.dol", create a folder and name it "Wii System Update 4.0" and put Boot.dol in it)

3rd Go to Homebrew Channel
click there the boot.dol

4th There your done updating your wii!

Have fun!

Re: wii settings

Hey, I am having the same problem. I read on another post that you can manually take out the battery pack to wipe the system. Apparently you take out the screws from the bottom where your serial number and take the battery out from there. I don't need access system settings that much, but some of you might want to try it. I have a *** wii with a wiikey...

Re: wii settings

Dear "ogre",
your solution would probably work, but WE CANT ACESS THE SETTINGS MENU IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!! So how the hell are we supposed to wipe the system????!!! And even if we could do that, as soon as we inserted an american bought game the same would happen. So we could'nt play those games, and it wouldn't be a soulution.

Re: wii settings

Format (Erase) Wii System Memory This option is used to delete ALL Channels and ALL save data that have been added to the Wii console and will wipe the system memory clean, as it was when purchased new. Please note that if you also have a Wii Shop Account, that data should be deleted first (click here for instructions).

To delete ALL Channels and save data
  1. Access the Wii System Settings screen (how to).
  2. Click on the left blue arrow twice to reach the Wii System Settings 3 menu options.
  3. Select "Format Wii System Memory."
  4. settingsformat.gif
  5. If Parental Controls are set, enter the PIN.
  6. If you are sure you want to erase the Wii console's system memory, select "Format."

I have a wi console where stream net flix I can not get it to conect I keep getting error code 52130. How do I fix it.

To solve this error, try to manually setup the Wii console using your network IP settings.
To do a manual setup of the Wii console using your network IP settings :
  • On a PC, click Start > Run > type CMD and press Enter > type IPCONFIG/ALL and press Enter. On Windows Vista, click Start > type CMD in the Start Search box > click on CMD icon > type IPCONFIG/ALL and press Enter.
  • Locate IP settings and use them to manually set the Wii console.
  • Restart your wireless router by unpluging the power from the wall and plugging it back in. Try to connect the Wii console to the internet.
You may also try to disable the wireless router security or firewall. Try again to connect the Wii console to the internet.

if this help you please rate me tnx...

First off we have to make sure that your unit is properly connected to your router.
Note : Please note that Non-Nintendo manufactured USB LAN adapters will not work with the Wii console system.
1) Unplug your modem first for about 90 seconds and then plug it back in before continuing.
Note : You need to unplug the cable going to your computer when you wish to connect your Wii console online.
2) Insert the Wii LAN Adapter into the USB port on the back of the Wii console. The Wii should be turned off when you do this
3) Connect an Ethernet cable from your wired router to the Ethernet port on the Wii LAN Adapter.
4) Turn on your Wii and go to the "Wii Main Menu," then select the Wii icon (on the bottom left)
5) Select "Wii Settings" then "Wii System Settings"
6) Scroll to page two (using the arrow on the right) and select "Internet."
7) Select "Connection Settings." and then "Connection 1." ( connection 1 should say " None" if it says otherwise, click on Connection 1 and choose " Clear Settings")
8) Select "Wired Connection." then "OK" - It will now run a conncetion test
If the connection test is successul, it will do an update and will ask you if you agree to the User agreements. After agreeing to the terms, that's it. You should now be online.
I hope I was able to help. Hoping to hear good results.
All the best to you Mr. Edwards.
Cheers :)

Wii says needs update in order to connect with Wii Store which would allow me to download NetFlix Ap. It is connected to the net but I keep getting error message that says update could not go through. It...

Hi there!
There are two ways to connect your Wii to the internet; you can connect to your wireless network (if you have a wireless modem set up in your house), or you can connect using a wired connection directly to your modem.
If using a wired connection, you will need to purchase a Wii LAN adapter and connect that from your WII into your wired router.

Once you have figured out what connection type you will use (and if using a wired connection, purchased and connected your Wii LAN adapter) you will need to take the following steps:
  • Turn on your Wii and click on the "Wii" button on the bottom left of the screen
  • Click on "Wii Settings"
  • Click on the arrow on the right side of the screen and select "Internet"
  • Select "Connection 1 : none" (if you don't see "None" in Connection 1, click the Connection 1 button, then choose "Clear Settings")
  • Click on "Wireless Connection" and then "Search for an Access Point"
  • Select "OK" and the Wii will display all the wireless networks it finds.
  • Select the wireless network that is yours.
  • If it asks you to enter a password or key, then your wireless connection is password protected and you will need to enter the password that was setup to allow access to your network.
  • Select "OK," "Save Settings," and then "Yes."
  • Your Wii will test the connection and you should get a message saying connection was successful.
  • Connect your Wii to the Wii LAN adapter and connect that to your modem or broadband adapter. Please not that you will need to unplug your modem for a few minutes to reset the connection and you will also need to unplug the connection to your computer when you want to connect your Wii to the internet.
  • Turn on your Wii and select the Wii icon on the bottom left
  • Click on "Wii Settings"
  • Click the arrow on the right side of the screen and select "Internet"
  • Click "Connection Settings"
  • Click "Connection 1 : none" (if you don't see "None" in Connection 1, click the Connection 1 button, then choose "Clear Settings")
  • Click "Wired Connection"
  • Click "Ok"
  • Your Wii will now do a connection test
  • You should see a message saying the test was successful
Hope this helps!

Game stuck in console

Try thees steps

Turn the Wii.html#" target=_blank itxtdid="7750962">Wii off and on again after about 20 seconds. Press the eject button again. 2
Unplug the Wii's AC power supply if Step 1 doesn't work. Wait 1 to 2 minutes, and trying to eject the disc again after turning the Wii back on. Hold down the eject button for 5 to 10 seconds. 4Try ejecting the disc with the Wii at different angles. If you hold the Wii upside down, it may help the disc fall out. 5Call Wii.html#" target=_blank itxtdid="7751052">Nintendo and send the Wii back if non of these steps work. In most cases, a disc stuck in the Wii should be covered by warranty. Nintendo says to see if power light was coming on, AC adapter reset. unplug from both ends for 90 seconds.Hold eject button for five or 10 seconds Good Luck

Wii will do everything but it won't play games.....

I had the same problem. No new games would play but the old games played fine. I clicked on the spinning disc icon (where the game should come up) and it prompted me to do an update. I accepted. Once the update was complete (took about a minute or 2) the new games worked fine.
