Question about Creative Labs ZEN V Plus MP3 Player
My player still plays music but has a black screen. Can u help.
HOLLLYYYY CRRRRAAAAPPP i found out how to fix it!!!! now, to be alittle more civilized, i pried off the plate covering the button interface thingy, then i took off the plate that covers the screen. now, with the actually screen exposed (was a plastic screen... protector) you very gently pull on the exposed screen.okay, there will be sticky foam thing that were keeping the screen from moving or whatever, and that will come loose, nothing has broken. i dont know any technical terms, but there is a filmy thing connecting the screen to the circuits and all such stuff. also, there is brown tape covering that to make sure it stays in place i guess. mine had come a little loose, so i messed with it for a while, made sure it was all connected, and put some more tape to make sure it stayed in place. now it works again!!! i hope it works for you good people of the internet. maybe i have stumbled upon the answer to the greeeeeeaaaaaaat queeeeesstiiiooonnn. post some kind of response if this works for you i hope it has helped.

I have the same problem. It plays but I cannot see anything at all on the screen. I just have to guess.
This seems to be a consistent problem with this model. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Solution: Look for your receipt, check to see how long the warrenty is for, and if it's still good, GO GET IT FIXED! If not, then stop being lazy, get a job, and pay for the repair yourself

The hold function got engaged and you have to slide the on off button like you're going to turn it off, but don't hold it down, let it go right away.

I had something on my screen, like a fingerprint that was dirty, and I put a tiny dab of windex on mine. Very next day, the screen started to go black where the spot was. Pretty soon the whole screen was invisible. I haven't used mine for over a year and a half and my screen is still dark. What a waste of money.

I have the same problem. I just got it fixed for another problem. I will not be purchasing this brand again.
What a waste of money. Does anyone have a suggest for another similar to this one. That works.

I have the same problem, but I can't say that I blame it, since I've been using it every day, most of the day at work. This is my solution: Use the playlist option in Windows Media Player. Since it is the first stop on the menu, you can load your playlists there, and access them by pressing the "back button a few times, then pressing the joystick once to enter the playlist menu and then choosing the playlist you want, which will be in the same order as it is displayed in the "my zen" thing on mediaplayer.

Mines did the same thing but I found out that because I accidentalliy dropped it the pixels started leaking out to the front of the screen. Which is why it looks so dark. I don't know if I should buy a new one or if I should call creative to see if they can replace it.

I turned on my player yesterday and I couldn't view the screen. It's super dark and I can barely make out anything. How can I increase the brightness to view the screen normally again? It still plays the music ... the screen view is nearly invisible.

Not sure if this is FixYa lag, but there is no way to fix this problem. The OLED screen is just worn out (they typically last 3-5 years) and it would be cheaper to buy a new player.
You can still use this player, changing the playlist when you sync it to your computer, but you won't be able to see the track name or battery remaining

Its possible that the battery just needs to be charged. Also make sure you are holding down the on off slider for about six seconds, it won't turn on if you only hold it down for a second or two.

I guess it broke.
Try re-installing the firmware, it's worth a try.
If this doesn't work, it means the screen is dead..
you can get it fixed for free if it's still under warranty.
