There are countless tweak utilities/applets you can use to uninstall (and rightfully so) Windows Messenger. However, the easiest and least labor intensive is:

  1. Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
  2. "Add/Remove Windows Components" (left column).
  3. "Windows Component Wizard" is launched.
  4. Scroll down "Components" list and locate "Windows Messenger".
  5. UN-tick it, then "Next" button.

Live Messenger error code: 8e5e0247

1. Ensure to exit Windows live Messenger from the task manager before deleting Windows live contacts cache folder, otherwise you will get an error prompting that you can't delete the folder. Click on "Start", click "My Computer" In the Explorer window, click "Organize" Choose "Folder and Search Options" In the folder options window, click on "View" tab Select the option "Show hidden files and folders" click "ok". Browse to the location: C:\Users\\App Data\Local\Microsoft Delete "Windows live contacts folder" completely.Try signing into Windows Live Messenger.

From sources which I found try to do following things:

My problem is windows live messenger is temporary unavailable with error code 8e5e0247. my OS is vista home premium. Windows live messenger is the last version downloaded from MS site. Please help

3. Delete all files inside each folder.

Windows live messenger login but contacts cannot list

First i should say, this had to be a paid solution lol

  1. On the taskbar, right-click Start, and then click Explore.
  2. Click Tools, and then select Folder Options.
  3. Click the View tab.
  4. In the Advanced Settings list, select Show hidden files and folders, make sure Hide extensions for known file types is not selected, and then click OK.
  5. In the Windows Explorer window, click View, select Explorer Bar, and then verify that Folders is checked.

then

  1. On the taskbar, right-click Start, and then click Explore.
  2. Navigate to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Your Windows logon name\Contacts\Your Messenger e-mail address.
  3. Delete all of the files in the folder.
  4. Navigate to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Your Windows logon name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\Your Messenger e-mail address.
  5. Delete all of the folders and hidden folders in the Your Messenger e-mail address folder.
  6. Close Windows Explorer, and then try to sign in to Messenger again.

Try this for windows xp.


for vista

Contacts missing from my contacts list

Hello from Portugal,i used to have the same problem,when i logged to msn no contacts although in hotmail they where all there,so i uninstalled windows live essencials(all programs) then downloaded windows live messenger 2009(again) but this time i only installed the messenger app!problem solved now when i log in all my contacts are there and the messenger works at is full power(lol) hope i helped someone and sorry for my english!
