Question about Refrigerators

2 Answers

Noisy Refrigerator I bought a 15 Cu. Foot Hotpoint refrigerator in June, 2007 and everytime it runs, it makes noises like a dog barking and a moaning noise. I was told by a co. rep. that this is natural in present day refrigs. I do not agree as I have in my 75 years had numerous refrigs and none of them have made this noise. I want to have this repaired before the warranty expires. Can you tell me what is wrong with it and the nearest Service Center close to Harrisburg, Pa.?

Re: Noisy Refrigerator

The solution on that problem is the mechanical motor inside the sealedtype compressor is misplaced the mecanical or the spring inside is out from their posion, its cause due to travel in delivery its happen always on delivery due to shake the motor and or for lifting the unit, or position ondelivery abd result of MIS HANDLING.The manufacture will change your unit, its still under warranty.

Re: Noisy Refrigerator

Hi there i'am affraid that the noise you are getting from your fridge is normal this is due to the illegal use of r12 refridgerant gas as from 1999, the replacement gas is r600 which is ozone friendly but can be rather noisy giving off a whiriny' hissing, groaning and some times like water falling.

hope this is of some help

It sounds like it does have one foot in the grave, sorry. The internal components of the compressor are mounted on springs. So if it shakes hard enough to make those noises, it's on it's way out.

Hotpoint side by side has recently bugun making a lot of noise

Check for frost in the freezer compartment that may suggest a defrost problem which would cause it to run for extended times and make more noise. The other possibility is that if the fan is making a up and down type of noise, it will need a new fan in the freezer section due to a faulty bearing in the motor.

Fridge is making noise

The high pitched sound could be from the evap fan motor. If you can get to it a drop of silicon oil would solve the problem.
