The camera lens is stuck in the open position. When I press the On button, the green light flashes and there is a short sound followed by three lower pitch beeps. The screen flashes on and then goes right off. We have replaced the batteries several times.
I have the exact same issue. It needs to be returned to the manufacturer. Make sure you have your receipt or they wont take it back if it was made after the manufacturing date (Mine was made in April 2007). The warranty only lasts one year from purchase. You have to call them and get authorization for the return. Good luck!

Enilra, sounds to me like you might have the button that takes the photo stuck in the down position. Without turning on the power, put you finger on the button and press down on it while you move wiggle your finger around. Get a good look at the button and see if You Can See If The Button is returning to the UP Position. Withour seeing your camera in person this would be my guess.
It sounds as though your lens is jammed. The clicking sound is likely the camera trying to open the lens and failing, then it turns itself off. Check with your manufacturer for recalls and technical bullitins. See if they will service the camera under warranty. If you cannot get it serviced economicly at the factory there are repair services on the internet who will work on your camera.

My Canon A75 has the EXACT same problem. I have always handled it with care. When I was taking photos with it, the camera suddenly started shutting down without a low battery warning. It just started shutting down, but it stopped with the lens still sticking half way out. Like yours, the top green light flashes when I try pressing the power button. Any ideas?
