Use your recovery discs, keep CD/DVD in the CD/DVD rom and start your computer. Press F2 to enter setup (some models require F1 or Del button to be pressed on start up to enter the setup, check the first screen that appears give u information which key will lead u to the setup), enter in bios and change the boot sequence to have CD/DVD at the first preference, exit saving changes and your system will reboot using ur CD/DVD. Follow the instructions to repair your OS, hope this will solve the problem.

Here's what to try:
Unplug the computer.
Remove the battery.
Wait about a minute and reinstall the battery and plug it back in. If you are running Vista, this should do it. Vista had (may still have, for all I know) a bug that didn't let it come out of hibernation.

you might be initiating hibernation and sleep at the same time by closing your laptop screen while it is still going into hibernation. try leaving the screen open until hibernation is complete and the laptop shuts down.
