Ice maker made too much ice, then none at all...

I have a subzero 550 (dated 1996). the ice maker made way too much ice, even when the tray was totally full. It was overflowing into the back of the freezer, then one day, the ice maker didn't make ice at all and just poured water into the tray, so the tray was one giant ice cube, then it stopped making ice all together. now it's just not doing anything at all...
i located the switch and that is working fine, and i also took a hairdryer and warmed what i thought was the water inlet valve (though I might have been wrong), in case it might have been clogged with ice. Still not working. Does anyone know where exactly the inlet valve is? or what the solution might be? Or, how much this will cost to have fixed? (we just bought the house, came with the sub zero, so we are pretty new to sub zero repairs, but have heard they are quite pricey. Thanks so much.

Sub-Zero 550 - freezer unit is chilling, but not freezing

Ice maker was intermittent at best - ice was often just a shell. After two failures to correct we had the ice maker (a Whirlpool - on a Sub Zero - Go figure) replaced. Then the paddle that detects the ice level broke. Next step a new GE.

Subzero 550 water drain in refrigerator section backs up

The problem is that the water freezes in the drain, either because the door is not sealing good, it's open too often or there is mold in the catching tray and tube. Best solution is to take a turkey baster (pump), disconnect the flexible tube from the tray, by pulling down, take a large cup with very hot water mixed with a spoon or 2 of Clorox, fill the baster with that mixture and pump it on the drain tube. You have to do it several times, water will come out, but do it until you hear a "woosh" sound and the water goes freely on the drain. Also spill some of that mixture in the tray so it kills the mold.

Freezer Drawer Stuck

Our 550 bottom freezer drawer froze shut earlier this week and the motor made an unusual sound, like it was working too hard. Two of us eventually were able to open the drawer to find that it had frozen shut due to a leak which filled the ice tray solid and then adhered to the actual door, freezing it shut. We emptied the fridge and freezer, turned the control dials down to 0, but neither the motor nor the light would go off. We finally killed the circuit breaker to get the appliance to shut down. It's cleaned and defrosted and we noticed that the gasket has torn in three places, two on the fridge door and one on the freezer door. The freezer door could be from our tugging, but the refrigerator door is normal wear and tear. We filled the tears with some kind of putty and when it is dry we will start everything up again. This is not the first problem of this nature we have experienced with our subzero 550, but it is the most dramatic. Each previous time we have called a repair man out and he has been unable to fix it.
